3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured like oil. Dark and syrupy looking with a thin and ephemeral head. After swirling, this takes a hell of a long time to settle down off the edges. The nose caught me off guard. It’s thick with berries and cream-- smelling almost like yogurt! There’s some clear chocolate and roast and I can certainly smell some acidity. Luxurious on the tongue, this beer is really very nice indeed. It foams up, and there’s a slight alcohol warming which I think always goes hand in hand with beers of substance. Sweet, though not an all-out maltfest. There’s again some of that berry, but it’s overwhelmed by the charcoal roast. Some cream and lactic acidity again. the finish is dry for such a sweet stout and dominated by charcoal. I love a roasty beer, but this brew may go so far so as to obscure it’s more subtle points. Maybe this would benefit from cellaring? Also, where are the hops? Clearly hops shouldn’t take center stage in this beer... but I expect something.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark with a small light brown head. Smells like chocolate, raspberries and cherries, very malty and very sweet. The name was not a let down, it was very creamy, which is probably the first thing that comes to mind when I take a sip. The fruity aroma is not at all apparent in the flavour aside from maybe a hint of cherries- instead I just taste rich creamy milk chocolate, and some roasty notes (especially in the finish).

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12-oz. bottle from tjthresh, Batch 7250. Pours opaque with a tiny foamy tan head that mostly diminishes leaving enough for some fizzy lacing. Aroma is deep, rich dark chocolate and coffee malt, yeast (leather) with some faint hops. Malty, moderate acidic, dark sour chocolate, coffee, caramel sweetness, some creaminess, finish is toasty cocoa. Dark bodied, fizzy-tingly, creamy and smooth palate.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured pretty dark black with a thin ruby tan head. The lacing was ok, not great. The aroma was of strong cocoa beans, reminded me of a grade school field trip to the Port of Wilmington, where I tasted some cocoa beans. The flavor was lots of chocolate, some roastedness, some milk stout lactic flavors, and a balanced level of hops. The mouthfeel was pretty heavy and thick. A nice experience.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black body, small tan head. Aroma is roast, chocolate and caramel. Roasted flavor is there but not dominating. Smooth mouthfeel. Tasty, but flavors could be better. Seemed relatively light bodied.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: AUG 27, 2006 Bottle - Pours thick and deep dark brown with very thin dark tan head. It has a light roasted malt aroma with hints of chocolate and vanilla. A creamy smooth full bodied taste that is easy to drink. One of my favorites!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very dark, black brown beer. Tan/brown head disappeared quickly. Heavy coffee flaovrs, some chocolate. Very nice, creamy mouthfeel, although not as full as I expected.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAR 15, 2011 I rather like this brewer. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured thick, black and oily with a medium sized dark brown head. The aroma is strong sweet chocolate, molasses and coffee. The mouthfeel is super creamy yet crisp. Almost like bubbly milk. The flavor is strong roasty malts with sweet chocolate and a bit of malted milk. Tasty but the flavor does not quite live up to the aroma and mouthfeel.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From a 12 oz. long neck brown bottle with short blurb and batch number, 7186, packaged on 12/22/05, on the back label.
Made a good appearance, poured an creamy opaque black coffee color with a foamy tan head that settled into a thin lacing, moderate carbonation overall.
Had a sweet lightly dark roasted malty nose, hints of chocolate and vanilla.
A slick, creamy smooth full bodied mouth feel, good drinkability.
Sweet roasted malty taste, chocolate powdery, dark fruity with a sour cherry flavor, milky vanilla, a subtle warming alcohol presence in the palate, a little burnt chocolate towards the end and a dry sweet roasted malty finish.
Another good stout from Bell’s, tasty and very quaffable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a very dark blown, almost black with a tan head. The taste is of light hops with a complex malt flavor of roasted malts and chocolate, the flavor is rather creamy, almost chewy.
