COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sweeter and smoother than Kalamazoo Stout. A beer for special winter occasions. Great with chocolate desserts. Available October-March.

Black with a large frothy brown head. Smells like a bit of a mowed lawn underneath the usual roasted coffee aromas that are the norm. Creamy is an understatement for this one. Very thick and smooth throughout, sweet milk and semi-sweet chocolate over the tongue with a slightly gritty finish which tastes like coffee. The mouthfeel is quite unique, and the beer is almost frictionless as it rolls across the tongue... very interesting.

Dee-licious! I think that the best beers just taste damn good and don't require analysis. Like this one. Just tasting good is enough. If I had to break it down, I'd say that in this case the ten different malts came together to make a nice tasting beer, rather than a disjointed one like other multi-malt beers have turned out to be. Thanks PsychProf!

Not much of a nose on it. Looks very inviting. Sweet malt flavor tasting of burnt chocolate. Warming but a very masked alcohol taste - a very balanced beer. I'd like a bigger nose, though.

Frank (2814) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 1, 2003
Intense, opaque brown with a thin velvety head. Inviting nose with notes of chocolate, smoke, raisin, and--I swear to god--beef. Front is smooth and creamy. Most of the flavor comes out in the middle--tremendous malt depth with all manner of dark malt flavors. But the most beautiful thing here is the palate--thick, velvety and not the least bit sticky. Finishes cleanly with a touch of dark chocolate bitterness. Another wonderful Stout by Bell's and flavorful enough to rival even the best imperials.

Black in appearance but not opaque, light, caramel fluffy head. Burnt toffe aroma. Stong, sweet flavor of roasted malt, espresso and vanilla. Very creamy with a liqueur-like finish. Not an everyday beer, but tasty.

Beer pours (in Chimay glass) a pitch black oily liquid light can not penetrate with a small amount of caramel colored head. Aroma is of faint hop, molasses and strong malt (yummy!!). Flavor is of molasses, vanilla, and slight to small hops ending and faintly dry. Sampled at 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

The aroma speaks of malt, chocolate, and coffee. Not quite as harsh as some of Bell's other stoutly offerings. Opaque with no head at all. Body is creamy with elements of lactose and coffee. One of my favorite stouts!

Pitch black with a tinge of dark caramel at the edges. Head is small and dense. Aroma is of strong black coffee and charred malts. On the dry side and medium bodied but smooth. Flavor is strong bitter coffee. Not as sweet as I'd like. Overall pretty good though.

Poured black, not quite opaque with a soft creamy tan head and nice lacing. Roasted, sweet, super creamy aroma. Full mouthfeel with sweet tastes of chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. This was very fulfilling, and I could drink many of these at a time.
