| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 14, 2008 Pours thick black, with a very limited tan head. Nice chocolaty mocha aroma, but not too strong of an aroma. Flavor is great, excellent blend of milk chocolate and roasted coffee. Very smooth body, a little too much carbonation and a little too light, but an otherwise solid sweet stout. mattmc1973 (313), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 11, 2008 12 oz bottle, poured black with a thin off-white head. Aroma of coffee, sweet malt, and dark chocolate. Not as strong smelling as many stouts, smells good but a little underwhelming. Taste is not hoppy like Expedition, it’s more smooth and creamy, with dark chocolate and coffee. Mouthfeel is creamy, slightly fizzy, and smooth. Pretty good stout, but not as great as I expected. Solid offering. pforei (338), USA

Aroma of Roasted coffee, mollasses and powdered chocolate. Sweet taste of mild powdered chocoalte and some roastiness. Soft and smooth mouthfeel. Medium body. Pleasant and mild. grandridge (222), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 6, 2008 I was really expecting a lot more from this rated at 97%. It was smooth but lacking in flavor. I thought this was the weakest Bells I’ve tried. How this can be rated right below Rogue chocolate stout for sweet stout I don’t know. Aroma is roasted coffee with hints of bittersweet chocolate. Mouthfeel watery and flavor leaves you wanting more. I thought this was an alright beer but not solid and definitely not top three percent in the world. gonzo46and2 (108), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 5, 2008 This was second of three Bell’s stouts I’ve just tried. This has a very powerfull aroma of dark roasted malts with notes of coffee. I couldn’t help but taste a bit of overly burnt bitterness that wasn’t only from the hops. This stout is average in my opinion. MrChopin (706), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 2, 2008 Slight milk chocolate, but it’s dominated by roasted coffee. A nice, tan head to black beer, with moderate lacing. The tastes follow the nose with strong roasty malth character and a slight sour component. Nice for the roast lovers, but a little too one-sided for me

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 2, 2008 Pours a pitch black with a lovely thick tan head with decent retention and a fair bit of lacing. Aroma is very interesting - dusty, earthy roots (maybe mushroom?) and chocolate malt. Tastes quite nice, lots of chocolate and lightly kilned coffee, swimming in thick, rich milk. Tastes like a cold mocha-latte. Touch of hops in the finish, fusel notes. Delicately carbonated (small bubbles) and very thick and creamy, although it leaves very little in the finish. I really like this beer, probably the closest to a milk stout that I’ve ever had. Not exactly balanced, but plenty interesting, and well-executed. unrulythings (73), Portland, Oregon, USA
