3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice and smooth. Very drinkable and has a great earthiness to it. Lightly smoked tasting. Tastes almost like a porter that is as smooth as a milk stout.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz undated bottle poured into pint glass (from Jan. 2011 notes).
A - Opague black/brown with dark mahogany highlights. Smallish tan head that too quickly turns to a small ring. Limited lacing.
Aroma of roasted malt with undercurrents of vanilla, coffee, chocolate.
T- mainly dark roasted malt, with hints of coffee, chocolate and vanilla, in diminishing order. This stout has a definite sweetness to begin, but ends with a long but mellow bitter and slightly dry finish. Rich and interesting flavor.
Mouthfeel is soft, smooth and creamy. Decent carbonation. Medium body. Seemed smoother as it warmed.
Another good beer from a great brewery.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dirty dark brown, shade of light tan head. Nose is shoelaces and tobacco. Soft choc then a tight but thin bitter thread. Light milkiness but a tinny bitterness glazes over, a bit more of a spongey dark malt chaser than I’d been expecting. Finishes light nutty but is a long way off what I’d been hoping. Doesn’t overpower and passes quickly.
