Sweeter and smoother than Kalamazoo Stout. A beer for special winter occasions. Great with chocolate desserts. Available October-March.

Nice delicious cream stout. Pours dark, thin head with brown malty color. Very smooth, refreshing finish.

Jet black in color and I don't see any light getting through this brew. I see a wisp of light brown foam on the top of this beer. I smell rich dark malt, roasted barley, and black licorice. The mouthfeel is silky smooth and is a nice contrast to the bitterness from the roasted barley that fades into a light sweetness at the back of the palate. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black pour with small tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, and cocoa. Taste of roasted malts, chocolate, faint lactose, low bitterness. Medium body, medium carbonation, became more smoother as it warmed. Top notch stout that was very good but not too sure why they labeled it as double cream stout?? Was expecting a creamier taste and mouthfeel I guess.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2014 Very smooth creamy flavor with hints of toffee ,chocolate, and a nice lactose/malty base. Great beer, Bells doesn’t disappoint.

Bottle pours black with a thin off white head. Aroma is nice with carmel, condensed milk, and a light black patent malt note. Roasted coffee rides a sweet sugary note that finishes dry. Moderate carbonation, mildly crisp mouthfeel.

Bottle pours a dark coffee brown with a quickly dissipating brown head. Very smooth lactose chocolate and coffee flavor. Fairely clean finish with lingering roasted malt flavors.

Good smooth stout, very little head out of the bottle, not a heavy stout a little sweet with a nice finish

Not as creamy as expected. Good overall but not great. Date on bottle is 8/29/13. Could be the age and storage conditions. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thanks to Awalk1227 for this trade. Batch 9985: 09/14/2010 Poured to NB globe. A: Dark ale with limited translucency and little head. Only a centralized light peanut cap evidencing the carbonation in the beer. No lacing. S: Nice, roasty scent. Malts with hints of figs, plums, raisin. These scents are, however, quite faint. Really expect more assertiveness on the nose with this type of beer. T: Dry stout. Little resonance of the nose into the taste of the beer. Okay beer, prefer their kalamazoo stout. M: medium body with high carbonation. Nothing too special here. D: Drinkable, but there are better cream stouts out there. Get the feeling this one is rated well because it’s Bell’s, not because it’s great. Serving type: bottle 02-07-2011
