3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Served on cask at Al’s of Hampden into a nonic pint.
A - Pours dark as night with a solid one finger, creamy, tan head that leaves thick lacing down the entire glass.
S - Strong sweet aroma right off the bat. Hints of dark roasted malts, espresso, chocolate, and cream. The sweetness overpowers nearly all of the smaller aroma’s in this one.
T - Quite sweet up front quickly giving way to a creamy mix of coffee, chocolate, and other rich earthy flavors. Finish is a strong roasted flavor that is a bit overpowering. A fairly well put together cream stout.
M - Heavy flavor and feel with moderate carbonation. Very smooth with rich, roasted, flavors clinging to the pallet long after consumption.
D - I am sure I could drink a few of these, just maybe not all in one sitting. A very nice cask offering from Bell’s.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from GBBF 2014 and drunk at home. Black beer lasting tan head. Creamy dark chocolate aroma, I mean a lot of chocolate it’s a bit like sniffing a bar of Bournville Cadburys chocolate to be honest but a bit creamier. More of the same in the mouth, but no heaviness, it’s quite light at heart. A little roastyness. It’s fine. Not really my thing, but at least no obvious lactose to put me off. Aroma is attractive. Everything else is good but just not my style of beer. Prefer something drier, hoppier, blonder and generally more like an ipa. But then that’s just me.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Transfer from BA review on 1-15-13-
S erved on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a nearly pitch black color with a fine, thin tan colored head. The head fades very fast to leave only a light level of lacing.
Smell – The aroma is on the sweeter side with a good presence of chocolate and a nice sweet lactose/milk aroma. Mixed with these smells are notes of a light coffee smell as well.
Taste – The taste begins with some flavors of a sweet milk chocolate and a roasted malt flavor. While upfront there is a good sweet milky presence, as the taste advances the sweet loses some of its ground and the flavor becomes more bitter and darker in nature. While this occurs, some lighter earthy hop flavors start coming to the tongue. These, in the end, when combined with the more roasted, lightly sweet, and darker chocolate flavors create a very nice roasty flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thicker and chewier side with a carbonation level that is rather average. The thicker body was quite nice for the darker and roasted flavor of the brew and made it drink more like an 8-9 % abv brew as opposed to its 6.1 % abv nature.
Overall –Quite a tasty brew. It’s a “not too overly sweet” and fairly roasty cream stout. Well worth a try.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a dark reddy brown/black with an off white head. Aroma is lightly milky chocolate, with light coffee, light booze and a little sherry/rum. Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Milk chocolate, light treacle, grass, light coffee cake, touch of rum, a little liquorice... A touch on the thin side. Aside from that it’s well balanced and pretty tasty.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a dark brown to black color with a medium tan head that disapates quickly. Aroma is lite but has the chocolate and coffee notes that you look for in good stouts. A easy but flavorful beer to drink that has the perfect amount of bitterness for a every day drinker.

Dark black. Tan head. Pretty sweet at first but dries out. Complex malt build. Quite smooth. Like milky chocolate. I enjoyed this one. Thanks Seymour. This would be interesting with mint or strawberry.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Deep dark very nearly black beer with a big tawny colored head that lingers on for quite awhile. It appears to be well carbonated.
Aroma is that of sweet roasted malts also chocolate and coffee.
Definitily has a sweet roasted malt character to it. I get a nice complex roasted malt flavor upfront. then turns mellow and sweet.
A very nice mouth feel with a smooth soft mellowness and a dry finish.
Nice lacing from the sticky foam head.
I taste tasted this beer waiting for my kids to come home from school. It was a cool blustery day with clouds in the sky.
My flag was waving in the breeze in front of a brillant red maple turning quickly in the autumn sky.
That was a good beer.
