Sweeter and smoother than Kalamazoo Stout. A beer for special winter occasions. Great with chocolate desserts. Available October-March.

12 oz bottle into a snifter. Pours a dark black with a small light tan head that fades quickly and leaves a bit of lacing. Aroma of cocoa, black licorice, coffee, and dark fruits (plum, raisin). Taste is cocoa and dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, and black licorice. Slightly dry finish of cocoa and bittersweet chocolate. Full body, thick texture, average carbonation. Excellent stout! Everything a good stout should be.

Look: pours a dark black. Slightly thinner than I anticipated. Light brown sugar head that disappears quickly. Smell: heavy sweetness almost like candy. Red apples, chocolate, sweet cherries. Chocolate Taste: heavy malt, but still sweet. Premium chocolate, a little coffee. Slight bitterness on the back Feel: thin on the palate not heavy or oily at all. Not heavily carbonated Overall: not a bad beer. Still looking for something sweeter.

Dark black pour foamy creamy head and nice lacing. Aroma is roasted malt. Smells and tastes like a typical micro stout or poster. Coffee notes bitter at first taste. Goes down pretty easy. Pretty one dimensional it is what it is. Bitter finish takes some getting used to.

Shared a bottle at the Alpha tasting room, thanks Derrick! It poured a clear dark reddish brown colour with thick, everlasting brown foam and lace. He demonstrated the inverted-bottle-pour-trick, which produced an amazing foamy appearance. A truly delicious Cream Stout: tart and toasty, CHOCOLATEY, strong coffee and tobacco notes too. SMOOTH, SMOOTH, SMOOTH. Medium-full body, well-rounded mouthfeel, low-medium carbonation, complex aftertaste. Highly recommended.

This one smells better than it tastes. The deceptively sweet and creamy smell causes the normal beer bitterness to be a bit of a surprise -- unpleasant if you were hoping for a sweet flavor, just odd if you were expecting something smoother.

Smells of black licorice, milk chocolate, coffee and malt. Basic looking stout; black with light tan head that disappears quickly. Tastes highly carbonated, smoky, roasty with slight hop bitterness. Hoppy and coffee flavored aftertaste. I thought it would be sweeter, like a milk stout. Palate was just ok. I must say this is kind of a weak stout, but I am biased by bigger, thicker, higher ABV stouts. Sacrilege, I know, but this is an average offering by Bells.
