Sweeter and smoother than Kalamazoo Stout. A beer for special winter occasions. Great with chocolate desserts. Available October-March.

So we had cans of Beamish, bottles of Anchor Porter, and this lovely stout - not a bad evening and the double cream held up well in the excellent company. It’s sharp and roasty at first and sweetens and softens as it goes, perhaps too much as at the end I was left feeling a bit cheated, missing some of the complexity of the top notch stouts I’ve had.

Pours very dark, almost black, with very little head. Aroma is rich and malty. Taste is great; rich, smooth, and deep. Notes of chocolate, licorice, and malts. Thumbs WAY up!

Bottle from Ryan - thanks! Black pour with a froth of tan foam that quickly fades to a slick. Aroma is dry roast, chocolate (both bitter and creamy soft), light coffee, and some background hops. Taste is pleasant sweet chocolate with a contrasting dry roast and bitterness. Just a bit of malt sweetness underneath the roast and a touch of hop bitterness toward the finish. Clean and creamy mouthfeel. It’s a Bell’s stout - it’s awesome as expected!

draft. Pours very dark with a decent amount of froathy head. Aroma was sweet, and made you want to drink it right up. Taste was good, but left something to be desired.

Pours very dark with a moderate-sized tan head. Slight sweet and skunky smell, though that does not come through in taste. Hints of chocolate and roasted flavors come through, making this a nice and slightly light stout.

black hue with small tan head, roasted, chocolate, nothing overwhelming, malt sticks around, kind of roasted almost woody but sour aftertaste, smooth, medium to full body, not the best wouldn’t but a case but good

Pours very dark with a small tan head. Taste of roasted malts, chocolate, some coffee. Balanced. Sweet but not overpowering. Understated alcohol with a smooth pleasantly bitter finish. Very nice and I’ll say it again: balanced.
