Bottle into oversized snifter glass, opaque deep dark brown color with tan lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate, roasted malt, light nuttiness, faint coffee and some earthy hops. Taste adds notes of cream, grain, dark chocolate and coffee grounds. Medium body, low-moderate carbonation, creamy with chocolate roast finish. Very well done sweet stout.

Bottle; 33cl; bought from CAMRA Beer Festival 2014. The big one. The colour of the head is beige and the beer is black and opaque. The aroma is grains; tar; cream; bourbon El Salvador coffee; toasted aroma from the malt; oak and leather. Taste is leather; blackcurrant; chocolate; Devon clotted cream; licorish; leather; tar; sticky toffee pudding; gains; raisin and burnt toast. Some smokey elements but not overbearing. Drinkability is good and I love the hoppy finish. Another well-made stout by Bell’s. Great take on the British style. Cheers guys.

Bottle dated October 30, 2014. Dark brown with a thin ring of a head. Chocolate malt nose, slightly roasty with mild cream / milk. Light aroma hops are earthy and woody. Medium body, semi-sweet, viscous and chewy, thankfully not overly milky or lactic, though the cream character is more like artificial coffee creamer rather than pure cream. Roundness and heft similar to the character given by oatmeal. Carbonic and minerally. Creamier body than Kalamazoo Stout, malt is cleaner and flavor balance more enjoyable.

On tap, poured into a snifter. The aroma is pretty much the same as you’d get from freshly baked brownies. There’s a touch of a licorice aroma late, but still pretty much brownies throughout. It’s a dark, nearly opaque mahogany brown color, with a light, tan soapy head and a medium thick, big soap bubble ring. A dense, sheet-like lace is left behind on the glass. The taste is a medium high sweet and medium bitter. Much as the name would imply, this beer is creamy with a silky/creamy carbonation and a medium-full body that brings to mind German Chocolate Cake. Smokey notes with cola and licorice join the chocolate at the finish with a zesty spicy swell. It’s surprisingly dry for a creamy stout, with a slightly astringent, burnt cookie / brownie and cola aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown/black with an off white head and lace. Aroma is lightly milky chocolate, with light coffee, light booze and a little rum. Light to medium body, medium carbonation. Milk chocolate, light coffee cake, touch of rum, a little liquorice.. Great stout
