UPDATED: MAR 4, 2010 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a thin light brown head. Sparse lacing. Smells of coffee, nuts and malt. Nice medium bodied palate; but I expected more. A little short and bitter on the finish. A decent stout.

It definately has a good name. The flavor however is all but short lived. IT comes in the end and then its over with.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On draft at the Dilli Deli in Cincy. Smooth beyond belief of coarse this was cask pulled from a beer engine so it was extra extra creamy chocolate and with a very faint hop presence maybe some oat to smooth out the edges as well. Bells delivers its excellence again and does the stout category justice again highest praise..

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice dark color, subdued aroma, mostly malty. I smell a subtle sourness that concerns me, but in the taste it translates to a subtle fruitiness. Rich and creamy like a milkshake. Fruity with a bitter, dry finish. Quite quaffable.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a thick nearly black color with 2 cm brown head that is mostly diminishing. Aroma is dominated by chocolate, some hints of sweet malt. Flavors of chocolate, cream, and smoky malt. Medium body, significant lacing, no real alcohol detected, and lasting aftertaste. Very tasty and drinkable, almost a pop feel.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
A very good sweet stout. Light to medium body. Great aroma. Nice and easy on the palate. A sweet stout should be less complex and sweeter than a darker more complex stout and bells really nailed that here.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Sharrett’s Liquor Store (Saint Paul, Minnesota, 25/11/12)
Chocolate, caramel, and coffee on the nose. Dark brown/black with a small tan head. Taste has a medium sweetness and a slight bitterness. Medium bodied, thick texture (for the style), average carbonation, and a bitter finish that seems a little out of place. Good, but not spectacular.
