Probably the best stout I have ever had... Silky, smooth, creamy, with a lovely cocoa-colored head (not too long lasting), an aroma of sweet nuts, vanilla, caramel, coffee, and malt, and an almost-opaque color. Drinking is the same, with a lot of vanilla, good hearty coffee, some sweetness, but little to no bitterness. Definitely a treat, to be had with dark chocolate or espresso cheesecake, savored in small sips once it has warmed a tad. Just lovely.

Very pleasant smell. Smells almost creamy. Not bitter. Very heavy bodied beer with almost no head. Thick tasting as well. Truly creamy to taste. A+++++

Bell’s Special Double Cream Stout Holy Larry! This is why Bell’s is loved so much by Michiganders- great beer for the Great Beer State. What a gigantic Johnson this Bell’s Special Double Cream Stout is! Rich decadent darkness yields to deep coffee and cacao nib spice laced perfectly on a robust rich body. I can only compare this beer to the likes of Trappistes Rochefort 10 meets Lion Stout. Thank you Larry for making it easy for me to be proud of my state’s beer!

Overall quite a nice brew. Sweet, but not over the top. Thick, creamy taste and feel with a pleasant, roasted finish. I look forward to drinking the rest of the 6-pack.

Roasty smells. Dark, it is a stout. The head is oily. The taste is pretty sweat and roasted. It feels a little too fizzy on the tongue. It is what it is, if you like lots of cream, then you will like this.

Pours almost black with a dense foamy head. Aroma is of a smoky coffee with a hint of chocolate. Palate feel and taste is a creamy smoky aftertaste that stays with you until sip.

Bottle. Aroma: Caramel, roasty, sweet, with notes of coffee and chocolate. Appearance: Pitch black, with dark tan, creamy head. Taste: Sweet, malty flavor, with vanilla and coffee notes. Palate: Very pleasant, soft carbonation, fully body, and astringent, long, slightly sour finish. Solid stout with great, full flavor and a wonderful feel on the palate. Would be great on a cold day. Average drinkability, but a real treat as a one-off beverage.

Typical opaque brown/black color for a good stout. Not as robust flavor as some of the premier stouts, say medium sweet, I liked it. A quick fizz for a stout, but not too distracting. finishes smooth.
