Sweeter and smoother than Kalamazoo Stout. A beer for special winter occasions. Great with chocolate desserts. Available October-March.

Pours black. Small head. Deep chocolate scent and flavor. I donít taste, see, or feel the cream - definitely not double. Bitter chocolate finish. May have to re-rate.

Bottle thanks to NachlamSie. This brew pours dark with hints of ruby on the edges. The aroma is of cocoa, coffee, molasses, oatmeal, and brown sugar. As it hits the tongue, coffee is dominant with cocoa close behind. I can also taste some milky qualities as well. The finish has a nice coffee-like bitterness.

Aroma is creamy and almost sweat with hints of molasses and coffee as well as a sour note. Appearance is very thick reddish black with zero transparency. Flavor is full and rich with strong coffee. All of it is evened out by a very smooth creamy flavor (and texture). Finish is slightly sweat and coffee with no bitterness. Overall I would buy this beer again and again. It seems to have become one of my favorite stouts (though I have only had it twice).

NaturalIce (148) - originally from Michigan, New York, USA - FEB 19, 2009
12 oz bottle; Pours out dark like your typical stout with a light to medium tan head that laces nicely. The aroma is a sort of metallic coffee/chocolate. I agree with fredandboboflo in that the flavor represents semisweet chocolate (not sure about peanut butter though!). Carbonation is lively at first pour then goes flat. Good beer - although Iím not usually big on sweet stouts.

Black with a big frothy brown head. Good lacing. A wonderful chocolate and roasted malts aroma. Medium to heavy body, has a nice chocolaty, vanilla, creamy taste with a light to medium bitter finsh. One of the best stouts Iíve had in a long time and at a very reasonable price.

12 oz bottle from PA: Pours midnight black with a quickly dissipating tan head. Notes of bitter cocoa upfront with slight notes of licorice and caramel. Nice creamy medium body. Well balanced stout that isnít overly sweet. Nice toasted notes upfront give way to some bitter cocoa, vanilla, and slight roasted coffee and a very slight dry finish. Not a typical sweet stout in that itís not sweet like others such as Youngís Chocolate Stout or Southern Tierís Choklat, however really great! Overall: (A)

Creamy texture with smooth foamy bubbles. Somewhat average stout flavor -- brown sugar, acidic coffee, chocolate -- but smoother around the edges. The cream/lactose isnít as prevalent as I was expecting, but it adds a touch of sweetness. Unique for its softness and drinkability. Very approachable.

Bottle courtesy of colemgm8 pours black with little quick diminishing tan head. Aroma is chocolate and chocolate malt. First taste is sweet light coffee and nuts, then a great chocolate flavor takes over and finishes really nice. The mouthfeel is creamy with little carbonation which really complements this beer.

Poured black with a tan head. Sweet aroma. Had a great sweet malty flavor with very little carbonation.
