Sweeter and smoother than Kalamazoo Stout. A beer for special winter occasions. Great with chocolate desserts. Available October-March.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2014 Very smooth creamy flavor with hints of toffee ,chocolate, and a nice lactose/malty base. Great beer, Bells doesn’t disappoint.

UPDATED: DEC 24, 2008 poured a rich black color with a light brown head that didn’t last very long. Aroma nice blend of roasted malts and chocolate. Flavor is delicious balance of smooth chocolate and perhaps creamed coffee. Also got some oat flavors mixed with the malt. Wasn’t as creamy as I expected, but tasty and easy to drink. Another nice one from Bells.

BATLMULLET (127) - Highland, Indiana, USA - DEC 22, 2002
As always, the Bells yeast is present. I usually drink the lighter stuff where the yeast kind of overpowers things. Not really the case here. Slippery mouthfeel, deep black color, not a lot of head (probably due to a soapy residue glass). Roasty malt flavor, maybe a little overbalanced in the hop direction. Moderate alcohol presence.

Soft and easy on the tongue, reminiscent of Spotted Cow. Not as hearty as other stouts and not something to drink if you’re looking to tie a buzz on in a single drink.

This beer poured black body but not as black as other stout, more of a dark brown, and had a lighter head than your typical stout. The nose was coffee, vanilla with a hint of alcohol, overall not a bad stout, will have again, not as heavy as other stouts.

This offering was a bit of a let down compared to other sweet stouts like Left Hand’s Milk Stout and Too Cream Stout.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2011 Man, i must be way out of wack on this one, but i didn’t care for it. (still drank the entire sixer). Too sweet for me and i like a finer, longer lasting head on my stouts. The taste is a nice complex one, but the sweetness comes on too strong. Still, a bad Bells is better the 75% of the beers out there. I wouldn’t kick it out of my fridge, i ya know what i mean., **UPDATE** Had another this afternoon waiting for the "rapture" My tastes must have changed because i didn’t find this overy sweet at all! Very nice mouthfeel. I think I’ll have another.

Dark brown with small bubbly head. Flavor is sweet and nutty chocolate with a smooth roastiness and enough bitterness to balance.
