Sweeter and smoother than Kalamazoo Stout. A beer for special winter occasions. Great with chocolate desserts. Available October-March.

Bottle. Creamy dark chocolate malt aroma. Black-brown color with small head. Creamy dark chocolate malt flavor. Lighter mouthfeel than with some stouts. Extremely easy drinking - another great Bell’s beer.

Very sweet lactose smelling. Soft roasted palate with even a touch of tartness. Rolled oats and coffee ice cream flavors abound. I would’ve thought this was 4-5% alcohol. Hearty and full of flavor, a dessert in and of itself.

Deep black pour with an unfortunately short caramel-colored head. Aroma was heavy on the roasted malts.. with chocolate dominating. Powerfully smooth and well-coating on the palate. Coffee-like bitterness on the finish. Flavor was sweet with chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. Very fine all around! Only problem I have with it is that I just bought one :(

On Tap. This is one creamy and delicious ale. It just makes you want to suck it down. Bell’s serves it too cold though.

Courtesy of Quake1028. Pours a deep dark darkness with mocha head and decent lacing. The aroma is light with roastiness and faint charred malts. The varied malt bill comes through in the flavor that starts roasty to burnt and slowly becomes sweeter with sweet caramelized malts mixed with chocolate and vanilla. The vanilla gives it a faint cream soda sensation that I’m not a big fan of in a beer. It ends with burnt malts and chocolate malts.

On tap at HopCat while in town for RBSG. Pours a deep black with a medium to thick beige head. Soft toffee, coffee and roast. Smooth and creamy, light chocolate bitterness.

Pours black, brownish head. Aroma, roasted, some piney hops, malty. Taste, sweet and creamy, light hops and chocolate. Malty, with some nice notes of roastiness. Beer could pass for more than 6.1% and has a nice warming mouthfeel. Aftertaste has some light coffee notes. Gets better with external temperature.

Bottle at the Bloomington Beer Festival. Poured black with a brown head. Aroma had a sweet creamy chocolate note as well as a roasted malt note. The roasted malts were more present in the flavor with the creamy chocolate flavor relegated to a supporting note. High point was smoothness of the beer, described by one word... Amazing!

Bottle. Very dark brown with old copper penny highlights and a thick tan head. Aroma sets my mouth watering: chocolate liqueur, milk, treacle. Flavour is like liquid brownies from the pan, chocolatey, a little doughy, creamy and delicious.

Dark brown, creamy decent head. Buttery creamy aroma, sweet rich with roast notes. Softer, mellower coffee. Nice aftertaste.
