Sweeter and smoother than Kalamazoo Stout. A beer for special winter occasions. Great with chocolate desserts. Available October-March.

Pours very dark blackish, with a great head and great lacing. Smells of coffee, prunes, dark chocolate, cognac, and licorice. Tastes very roasty and creamy malty. Finishes very smooth, with a creamy, roasty flavor. Very bold. This one reminds me of the Lancaster Milk Stout. Very nice beer.

2009-07-19. Pitch black body, nice tan head faces. (3+) Aroma of roast malt, touch of coffee grounds. (6+) Flavour is sweeter than expected from the nose, touches of roast and mocha overtones, but not a lot of roast bitterness, sweet malty middle. Smooth medum plate is lightly carbonated. Aged a bit longer than planned, but it is a decent stout. Aged Bottle via ChicagoDRI trade.

UPDATED: OCT 2, 2014 yet another stand-out stout from bells. pours dark brown, almost black - with an everlasting tight tan head. aroma of malted chocolate and coffee. feel is super smooth and creamy. lactic quality in addition to the chocolate coffee flavor gives it an ever so slight sour finish, which is the only thing preventing this very good brew from being a world beater. still one of the best cream stouts out there.

Poured tan/brown with an off white head, smelled of sweet chocolate and coffee. Tasted of sweet milk chocolate with a slight toasted malt/dark flavor that finished creamy and smooth.

Batch 8842. Deep brown-black pour with a thick tan head. The nose is very chocolatey. It has the bright cocoaish intensity of the Expedition but in a much lighter body. Very rich and chocolatey with a nice milk chocolate backbone. Unctuous/silky body with a great balance of sweetness and cocoa. There is a bit of vanilla and brown sugar rounding out the back. Chewy, rich and very tasty.

Black beer with dark amber-beige head. Chocolate, and dried wine or brandy barrels; sweet, near-fruity. Dark-brown sugar aroma. Sweet, coffee & cacaopowder; roasted finish, breadcrust. Retronasal like unsweetened cocoacream. Quite velvety MF, despite lively carbonation. Medium bodied, slick. Sweet, but warming stout, nice. Once more thanks to DaveDave

12 oz. bottle from The Party Source. All right, out of the gate, I just have to say that for such a nice beer, people aren’t putting any effort into the ratings. This beauty pours a really dark brown, almost black, with a small tan head that leaves some really cool lacing behind. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, earthy hops, dark fruits, coffee, a little smoke, vanilla, and molasses. Flavor of chocolate, fudge, vanilla, earthy hops, berries, grass, sweet roasted malts, metal, and cola. Medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a mouthfeel that’s hard to characterize- maybe sweet roasted cherry juice. That doesn’t make any sense. Anyway, this is a really nice sweet stout, and I’m starting to wonder if I mix this and Expedition Stout if I will get the highly sought-after beer with such high ratings. Maybe. Expedition Stout is better by itself. I’m going to see what equal parts will do...

Bottle dated October 30, 2014. Dark brown with a thin ring of a head. Chocolate malt nose, slightly roasty with mild cream / milk. Light aroma hops are earthy and woody. Medium body, semi-sweet, viscous and chewy, thankfully not overly milky or lactic, though the cream character is more like artificial coffee creamer rather than pure cream. Roundness and heft similar to the character given by oatmeal. Carbonic and minerally. Creamier body than Kalamazoo Stout, malt is cleaner and flavor balance more enjoyable.
