Pours black, brownish head.
Aroma, roasted, some piney hops, malty.
Taste, sweet and creamy, light hops and chocolate. Malty, with some nice notes of roastiness.
Beer could pass for more than 6.1% and has a nice warming mouthfeel. Aftertaste has some light coffee notes. Gets better with external temperature.

A dark nearly black opaque body with a huge creamy head and nice lace, full-bodied. While a coffee, chocolate, nutty aroma are present, I detected a surprising cherry smell. Nice caramel and coffee taste. Sweet and bitter balance on the palate which linger for a while. A world-class sweet stout. Yummy!
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 after4ever (5290) - Brier, Washington, USA - JAN 21, 2007
12-oz., courtesy the kind hospitality of BitBucket. Pours deep black with a thin off-white head. Tiny bit of sour funk on the nose. Almost wild yeast-like. Hollow body--roasty, but the emptiness makes the flavors too subdued. The attack and the finish just wither there. Not much happening. Really a disappointment.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2005 Nice. Pours a dark, dark, dark brown color with a short-lived brown head, soon readuced to a halo & some lacing across the glass. It’s got a lightly roasted aroma with coffe scents and chocolate coming through. Smooth and creamy in the mouth, this tastes of roasted malt, caramel, toffee, coffee, and chocolate with some mild spicing underneath. There’s a touch of the hops and some nice roasted malts in its long, satisfying finish. Nice job, Bell people.

Batch #6657. The sweet stout pours a deep black color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee with hints of vanilla. A medium to full bodied stout. Malts are chocolate and coffee. Lots of coffee flavors in amongst all that chocolate, Very smooth taste, nearly creamy even. Fairly sweet, the only bitterness is from the coffee. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bottle. Very dark brown with old copper penny highlights and a thick tan head. Aroma sets my mouth watering: chocolate liqueur, milk, treacle. Flavour is like liquid brownies from the pan, chocolatey, a little doughy, creamy and delicious.

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2009 Dark opaque black with fizzy tan head. Aroma of asphalt, light-roast coffee, cocoa bean, fresh nuts. Nice soft mouthfeel but does become cloying. Slight lactic taste but good roasted malt too. Off dry. I want to like it more...
Draught at Cock & Bull. Opaque black with thick tan head and nice lacing. A hint of cherries in the aroma on top of a mainly chocolate background. Clean and steely aroma. Super creamy mouthfeel. Finishes slightly thin but otherwise full of dark chocolate. Goes down really well.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry & tupalev -- courtesy of Silphium. Pours a nice deep black with a spare diminishing light-brown head. Awesome mild aroma of creamy milk chocolate, coffee, some hops, caramel malt and spices. Flavour pretty much follows the aroma: lots of delicious creamy milk chocolate along with roasted malt and hops -- so damn tasty! Once again Bells knocks another Stout right out of the park -- how do they do it?! Fantastic.
