3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (batch 7801). Head is initially small, frothy, brown, mostly diminishing. Body is black (non-opaque). Aroma is moderately malty (chocolate, chocolate milk, caramel, nuts), with notes of vanilla, hint of smoke. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. A liquid candy bar. That pretty much sums this up...chocolate and vanilla galore. Not quite as decadent as one might expect from the name, but if you want that youíd already be opening an Expedition instead. Best sweet stout ever? Not sure Iíd go that far, but itís great.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JAN 28, 2008 In short: Superb stout with a wonderful fudge taste. Well balanced and drinkable in very large quantities
How: Bottle 12oz from elmatador00, thanks a lot my friend for proposing this to one to me.
The look: Black body with a large tan head
In long: What a wonderful surprise this beer was. Nose is somewhat smoky with roastiness, ashes and old black coffee. Taste was just great. Instead of the expected black chocolate I got this definite sensation of grandmaís fudge. That fudge was melting in my mouth. That fudge is covering earthy flavours, tree branches and dry grass. Just the right amount of dry grassy hops to dry it out without taking away from the malt profile (the main attraction here). Amazingly drinkable, I canít imagine it grossing me out even in the long run. In the overcrowded world of stouts itís refreshing and even surprising to come across one that stands out and manages to do something different. Thatís like a rap song coming up with a new rhyme with the word fuck. No, even more original than that, a rap song without the word fuck.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Very dark brown with old copper penny highlights and a thick tan head. Aroma sets my mouth watering: chocolate liqueur, milk, treacle. Flavour is like liquid brownies from the pan, chocolatey, a little doughy, creamy and delicious.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12-oz., courtesy the kind hospitality of BitBucket. Pours deep black with a thin off-white head. Tiny bit of sour funk on the nose. Almost wild yeast-like. Hollow body--roasty, but the emptiness makes the flavors too subdued. The attack and the finish just wither there. Not much happening. Really a disappointment.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Slightly lacking in flavor and low presence of complexity. Nice mouthfeel and the finish is strong coffee like they added coffee to the mix, but it doesnít blend well into the whole flavor.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle pours coffee black with a frothy tannish head. † Lacing appears to be uber sticky. † Sour cherries, semi-sweet chocolate, and cheesecake of all things greet the nose. † Up front I get a large burnt malt flavor that quickly turns bitter towards the finish. † Mouthfeel seems a tad thin, but not bad. † Midway through an appearance by some bittersweet chocolate and sour cherries show up. † Lingering burnt malt after the finish. † Tastes like the blending of creamy cheesecake with sour cheeries and coffee. † Quite enjoyable. † Thanks goes out to TChrome for the trade!

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry & tupalev -- courtesy of Silphium. Pours a nice deep black with a spare diminishing light-brown head. Awesome mild aroma of creamy milk chocolate, coffee, some hops, caramel malt and spices. Flavour pretty much follows the aroma: lots of delicious creamy milk chocolate along with roasted malt and hops -- so damn tasty! Once again Bells knocks another Stout right out of the park -- how do they do it?! Fantastic.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A dark nearly black opaque body with a huge creamy head and nice lace, full-bodied. While a coffee, chocolate, nutty aroma are present, I detected a surprising cherry smell. Nice caramel and coffee taste. Sweet and bitter balance on the palate which linger for a while. A world-class sweet stout. Yummy!
