COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sweeter and smoother than Kalamazoo Stout. A beer for special winter occasions. Great with chocolate desserts. Available October-March.

Completely black and opaque with large dark tan head. aroma is chocolate, coffee, white chocolate, roasted malt, some of that sour milk aroma. mouthfeel is thinner and flatter than it looked like it would be, and flavor is flat coffee, and lactic acidy, with some dark chocoalte and milk chocolate.

Poured a nice brown/black with a thin layer of bubbly tan head. At first the aroma seemed somewhat muted, but that was probably because it was too cold. As it warmed up, the beer revealed itís lovely sweet coffee and milky aroma, with chocolate creeping in there at times. Unfortunately, the taste didnít quite follow through. I had to really swirl it around for a while before I could get a real definitive taste. Beforehand, it didnít really have much of a taste, maybe a faint milkiness at best. After doing so, there was a bit of coffee and malty sweetness. I let it warm up some more, but it didnít do much good. What it did do however, was accentuate the finish, which also ended up being very good. It was way more pronounced, yielding a delicious sweet coffee flavor without too much bitterness. Based on the aroma I had high hopes for this one, but the taste just didnít deliver. On the bright side, the finish was almost certainly the best aspect of this beer, suitable for all tastes (unless youíre really averse to coffee). I just hope I got a subpar batch.

poured a small sample from a bottle. this has always been one of the bells beers iíve never gotten into. black color with nice tan head. flavor is very creamy, low roastiness, chocolate, and sorta sweet. drinkable, fine, but boring.

Poured black with a tan head. Sweet aroma. Had a great sweet malty flavor with very little carbonation.

A sweeter, more subdued version of Kalamazoo Stout. Not much in the way of hop bitterness, and the malt profile is also less aggressive in comparison to the Kalamazoo. Still, this is an enjoyable stout and easy to drink.

Bottle. Poured an opaque brown with minimal cola colored head, no lacing. Rich oatmeal amd roasted malt orama. The malt profile has a subtle sweetness and a strong dry bitterness that lingers. Good and easy to drink. Full and creamy mouth feel.

Bottle at Bellís Eccentric Cafe. Not overly impressed. If I didnít know better, I would never have guessed this is a sweet stout. Tasted very mainstream. Nothing that made me want another. Switched to the Expedition stout-- much better.

Good stout. Better than the Kalamazoo but not the Java or Expedition. Smooth and malty. Definite roasted finish

Bottle, batch 8150. Pours a motor oil black with half finger tan head that settles to a soapy layer. Nose is roasty malts and chocolate. Palate is a lot like it smells, with some coffee added for good measure. Medium mouth feel Ė not as creamy as I thought it would be given the name. I prefer K-Zoo over it, but itís still a solid Bells Stout.

Bottle. Pours jet black, no light comes through if held up to a light. Medium thick frothy brown head that disapates in a few minutes. Taste of nutty chocolate. Velvety mouth feel. A slight warming sensation due to the relatively higher ABV. A nice hoppy finish. First beer from Bells, but wonít be my last.
