mgermani (549), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada May 2, 2008 Pours a pitch black with a lovely thick tan head with decent retention and a fair bit of lacing. Aroma is very interesting - dusty, earthy roots (maybe mushroom?) and chocolate malt. Tastes quite nice, lots of chocolate and lightly kilned coffee, swimming in thick, rich milk. Tastes like a cold mocha-latte. Touch of hops in the finish, fusel notes. Delicately carbonated (small bubbles) and very thick and creamy, although it leaves very little in the finish. I really like this beer, probably the closest to a milk stout that I’ve ever had. Not exactly balanced, but plenty interesting, and well-executed.
MaltDawg (180), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jul 4, 2008 Off taps at Capital Ale House. Dark almost black with small tan fine head.
Chocolate and roast malt aroma. Rich creamy body. Moderately bitter and slightly sour with coffee chocolate and roast coming through in the finish Eleventh11Man (7), Minnesota, USA does not count Jul 3, 2008 Pours a very silky black, with a very nice head. Very sweet aroma, almost coffee? Taste is sweet and a mildly smokey. A great beer for its style Beerman6686 (504), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 2, 2008 Pours a nice black color with a thin to normal tan head. Aroma is very sweet, chocolate, and some java notes. Flavor is also very sweet, is much like the description, a sweeter, less bitter/dry kalamazoo stout. shackinetics (108), Florida, USA Jul 2, 2008 Pours a dark iodine color with thin mocha head. Sweet roasted chocolatey coffee notes with thick, syrupy and very smooth mouth feel. Good to great stout. DocHop (165), College Park, Maryland, USA Jun 30, 2008 Pours a very dark brown with a small, light brown head. Smells like a lighter Kalamazoo. Aroma is lightly sweet chocolate, espresso, and caramel. Taste is good, very creamy, the start is light chocolate, and turns a little bitter sweet as it finishes with some coffee. I guess I was expecting a little more.
