Jfishback13 (271), Royal Oak, Michigan, USA Nov 8, 2002 Very good, exteremely dark, oily stout. It’s still quite smooth besides all of the malt and hops kicking in. Nice smoky flavor also... reminds me quite a bit of a thicker Dark Horse Bier.
fidelis83 (227), Clinton, Iowa, USA Jan 7, 2009 Pours nearly black dark brown with a tall reddish brown head that with great retention and lacing. Aroma is of roast, chocolate, toffee, toast and a little burnt coffee, some metallic notes come out as I finish the glass. Flavor starts off char and roast, then caramel, buttermilk, toast, sweet chocolate, burnt sugar, toffee, and a burnt candied nut. Finish is char, bitter, herbal and somewhat old tasting hops, with a nice bittersweet chocolate fade. Body is sweet and somewhat oily, only slightly sticky and more warming than you would expect from 6.1%. A nice stout, but not great. travita (915), Lewisville, Texas, USA Jan 7, 2009 Bottle. Smell is creamy, roasty, malts, coffee, and chocolate. Look is dark brown with red highlights and a beige colored head. Taste is coffe, chocolate, sweetness, and roasted malts. JaBier (240), Capital City, Ohio, USA Jan 5, 2009 On tap at Bettys. Black pour with a medium tan head. Creamy coffee aroma. Hop and coffee flavor up front, followed by cream and sugar.
