Pitch black with a light dark brown head. Taste is superbly well balanced. Not too much roast or chocolate. Goes down surprisingly smooth for a stout with little/no aftertaste. Maybe my favorite all-round stout based purely on the ease by which one can put this one down.

Jan 7, 2009 Pours nearly black dark brown with a tall reddish brown head that with great retention and lacing. Aroma is of roast, chocolate, toffee, toast and a little burnt coffee, some metallic notes come out as I finish the glass. Flavor starts off char and roast, then caramel, buttermilk, toast, sweet chocolate, burnt sugar, toffee, and a burnt candied nut. Finish is char, bitter, herbal and somewhat old tasting hops, with a nice bittersweet chocolate fade. Body is sweet and somewhat oily, only slightly sticky and more warming than you would expect from 6.1%. A nice stout, but not great.

Jan 7, 2009 Bottle. Smell is creamy, roasty, malts, coffee, and chocolate. Look is dark brown with red highlights and a beige colored head. Taste is coffe, chocolate, sweetness, and roasted malts.

Jan 5, 2009 On tap at Bettys. Black pour with a medium tan head. Creamy coffee aroma. Hop and coffee flavor up front, followed by cream and sugar. Awesome.

Jan 4, 2009 Pours dark brown with light brown head. Aromas of burnt malt, chocolate and coffee. Sweet roasted malt flavor. There is also lots of chocolate and some mild coffee flavors, Full body with mild carbonation and a slightly bitter finish. Nice creamy mouthfeel. A well done stout.

Jan 4, 2009 Pours black with little to no brown head. Taste is chocolate malt and coffee. Roasty with a semi-sweet finish. Great balance, very good drinkable. No alcohol taste. One of the better sixpack stouts.
