jameswolfe (103), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Mar 20, 2007 One of my favorites. Almost black with a tiny tan head. Light aroma of chocolate and caramel. Tastes of chocolate and roasted nuts. Very little alcohol taste despite being 7.5%. Its not as creamy as I epected but still very excellent. Washes hot wing sauce away like nothing else.
hombrepalo (506), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 8, 2008 Bottle @ Maproom. Pours very dark blackish, with a great head and great lacing. Smells of coffee, prunes, dark chocolate, cognac, and licorice. Tastes very roasty and creamy malty. Finishes very smooth, with a creamy, roasty flavor. Very bold and a very nice beer, just not as good as an imperial but probably the best sweet stout I’ve had.
BeerBunker (103), Burbank, Illinois, USA Oct 7, 2008 Pours dark brown with a quickly dissapating tan head. Aroma is of toasty malts, caramel, dairy creamer, and some weak coffee. Taste is malts and hints of chocolate complimented by coffee and a lingering creamy sweetness. Very creamy mouthfeel, but a tad too watery. It’s good, without being overly unique. Moggman (54), Columbus, Ohio, USA Oct 2, 2008 Bottle. Pours thick brown with tan head. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, creamy and thick. Finishes malty. Very hearty beer for winter drinking. SuzyGreenberg (1028), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 2, 2008 12 oz. bottle - batch 8150; thanks to kryptic (BA) for the trade; milky brown with thin tan head; smooth, creamy texture; milk chocolate, vanilla, cookies; very nice and an easy drinker; perhaps a little unfair to drink next to the 7000, but a stellar beer on its own BelgianBeerGal (978), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Oct 1, 2008 Bottled. Super, easy drinking stout. Pour a slick, dark brown with a tan head. Aroma is coffee that has cream and sugar added. Smooth flavour of milk chocolate, french coffee and vanilla. Just a hint of bitterness in the finish. Maybe a little thin on the body and mouthfeel but still a great stout.
