Pours an opaque dark brown-black, with a light tan head. Sweet aroma with notes of sugar, vanilla, and caramel--almost reminscent of a cream soda or root beer. Taste is of burnt malts at first--smoky. Opens up to reveals some choclatey subtlety--but retaining a relatively roasted character. Mouthfeel is rather watery, a bit thinner than one might expect. But it doesn’t detract from the experience. In summary, another excellent stout from Bell’s--the aroma is at odds with the taste, but both are worthy.

Poured from cask at Fuel Woodfire Grill in Port Huron, MI. Pours a motor oil black with a limited amount of tiny bubbles. Not much on the nose. Insanely silky mouthfeel with only the smallest bit of carbonation. Tastes of bitter chocolate and tapers off with an alcohol finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours tobacco juice brown...dark. Pretty. Very little head and no lace to speak of. Toasted malts and espresso. Very nice saddle leather tack shop type taste on the palate. Bought April 15 with cold spell arriving. More carbonation than expected. Nice treat

12oz bottle from Tasty Beverage in Raleigh. Black hue, zero visibility with fully diminishing dark brown head. No lacing. Dark chocolate, dark fruit, mild alcohol aromas. Moderate bitter coffee up front with a dark malt and coffee finish. Creamy texture on palate.

Criz (29) - - APR 6, 2014
Poured from a bottle, deep black in color, thin tan disappearing head. Notes of espresso and vanilla bean on the nose. Hints of coffee, vanilla, toasted malts and oats, and dark chocolate. Medium bodied very smooth mouth feel. Leaves the palate semi-dry. Super drinkable, always kept in rotation.

Bottle - big thick head, pitch black color, moderately roasty aroma and flavor, slight sweetness and creaminess, pretty good overall (and that coming from someone who is not the biggest stout fan)

Bottle. Pours walnut with a creamy mocha head; some splotchy lacing. Really enjoyed the aroma here - chocolate and roast highlighted by a sticky sweet vanilla. Taste is less complex - chocolate milk and roast. Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel. Very drinkable and tasty stout.

12 oz bottled 5 months ago, purchased at John’s Grocery ($2.49) and poured into a pint glass at home. Black appearance with a frothy, lingering light brown head, moderate lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate, vanilla, caramel, roasted malts and light coffee. Similar flavor, sweet and creamy with a light earthy bitterness. Medium body, smooth and softly carbonated with a rich, lasting finish.
