COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A ray of sunlight on a brisk autumnal afternoon. Sweeter and lighter than our other big stouts. Milk sugar added at conditioning brings sweetness to the otherwise dark malt flavor.

Bottle. WTF, this stuff only gets a 3.48?? This was my highlight beer of the August 2003 tasting in Dallas. It was like an Expedition Stout, but with the infusion of grapes, strawberries, chocolate mousse, and milk chocolate. Incredible and mouth-watering from start to finish. Here's to Suzy, the first girlfriend I ever had...

UPDATED: APR 2, 2003 Draft: Fat, sticky, and retentive brown foam. So fat, in fact, a frog could sit on it. Beautiful aroma displaying raisins, caramel, coffee, subtle smoke, phenols, and a dominant note of lactose, which is nothing less than remakable; phenols were its only drawback. Brie cheese flavors with a stellar interevtion of raisin/caramel/coffee and lots of sour lactose. Very round and jelly-like palate. The sourness is very prominent and truly addictive, and works very well with the raisin/caramel to add complexity. A love it or hate beer. Note: Much better than the bottle version and much more lactic, although the bottle has a contrary velvety feel to it and more chocolate in the finish.

This is really great stuff. Had no problem getting through these in a hurry. I do not normally like stout, but this is very smooth. Flavores of corriander and coffee. The texture just right. Without any of the overpowering bitter, burnt aftertaste of many stouts.

Oily black appearance. Juniper berry and coffee nose. The body is an interplay between sweet roasty caramel and a sour malty tartness that is very well balanced. Still has a fresh hop character to it as well. Finishes a great dark chocolate that leaves me longing for more. One of the best stouts I've had in a while.

Susie’s sweet stout is simply satisfying. Nearly black in colour, with a nice brown head, mild roast coffee aroma, silky/thin texture, sweet and chocolatey at first with a slighlty bitter coffe-ish middle, and a nice clean vanilla finsh. Another great stout from Bell’s!

ReRate: More Bells Magic. Brilliant. Inky black, minimal to no head. Rich fruity aroma, slightly vinous again. Chocolate, oh so sweet, milky. Very replenishing, another gem from the stout experts

Wonderful coffee/chocolate/toffee aroma. Miniscule brown film-like head. Absolutely delicious - at first. The lactose tang is a nice complement to the rich flavor. Eventually though, the sourness dominates to an excessive degree and mars what would otherwise be a near-perfect stout.

UPDATED: APR 29, 2003 Big roasted aroma as soon as the bottle is opened. Dark black with a brown head. Flavor is sweet with some sourness in the background and finish.
