Draft at Cafe. Poured clear dark ruby color with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy cherry and wheat aroma. Medium to abundant body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy dark sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. The beer surpassed my expectations.

UPDATED: APR 8, 2014 Tap: Deep copper, brown-ish and muddled throughout, except for at the edges. Topped off with a light-beige colored collar. Aroma has some light cherry notes with a backbone of grain and soft wheat. Very mild chalkiness to the aroma. Kind of sweet. Really mild, not a whole lot of stuff going on here. Taste is actually not that "sweet" up front. I get very light cherry flavors, kind of watered down concerning the fruit. I get a lot of bourbon barrel flavors, too... Too much bourbon for this style, really. Not really sweet, not really sour... Just lots of bourbon, oak, and some secondary cherry fruits. Not bad, but not really what you want for the style.

On tap: The aroma consists of moderate sweet cherry and a hint of tart cherry. Thereís also some hints of oak and vanilla. Itís a mostly transparent dark amber with a minimal off-white head that quickly fades to a thin ring. The flavor starts with a quick dose of sweet and lightly tart cherry. The finish has bourbon, light oak, and vanilla. Itís medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Overall, itís decent, but itís no longer a Berliner Weisse at this point.
