Draught. This is a fairly lackluster brew in the overall Bells spectrum. It has a slight off edge that hints at an infection in the brew. I have worked with sweet potatoes before and it is complicated. Maybe skip it.

Sampler at brewpub. Pours black with a khaki head. Some sweet potato on the nose. Bigger sweet potato notes on the tongue though they faded a bit as I drank it. Not bad but certainly not spectacular.

Dark black pour with no head. Muted aroma of roasted malt. Taste of dark malts with sweet potato and spice. Pretty decent.

Tap @ Bells: Nealy black with deep mahogany edges. A light tan film & collar quietly sits on top. Aroma is kind of earthy & dirty, much like a dusty potato skin would be. Hints of dark, roasted malt, light caramel, & a little bit of gumminess. Some vague autumn-y spices, ginger seeming to be the strongest. Maybe some clove, too. Taste actually seems to have some more cinnamon to it, though the ginger & clove vibe is still quite present. Strong earthy vibe, dirt, yam, ginger, burnt caramel, & light hints of cocoa dust. A bit of residual sugar sweetness balances the earthiness of the brew. Semi-creamy body. Itís a little sweet & maybe too strange to fully enjoy a pint, but itís still a tasty & interesting brew in smaller serving sizes.

Draft: Very nearly black....with a small tan head. Cola, chocolate, sweet potato aroma. Taste is more of the same....nicely carbonated.... This one works...really nicely.... Great stuff....

6oz on tap at Keystone in Hyde Park. Near-black color. Some clear red around the edges. Thin tan head. Leaves good, thicker lace. Good-looking stout. Medium-plus body. Smooth, soft, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Good moderately full mouthfeel for the ABV. Good light spiciness in the aroma. Nice sort of darker chocolate. Sort of subtle sweet potato, but itís definitely there and it works well with the rest of the beer, the whole thing is pretty well integrated. Light roast. Moderate bitterness, moderate spice. Light sweet. Great stuff, really.. Iím surprised by how much I ended up liking this. Clearly, Bellís knows stouts. And theyíve done almost every type, apparently. Now sweet potato. Keep íem coming!

Draft at BottleMixx. Let me preface this by saying I absolutely hate sweet potatoes and was hesitant to try this. Thankfully, it was not like sweet potatoes and was amazing. very nicely done.
