COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our take on the West Coast-style Double India Pale Ale, The Oracle places hop intensity first & foremost, making only the slightest concession to malt & balance. The fireworks start with the floral aromatic punch of two separate dry-hop sessions with Amarillo and NZ Pacific Jade. Resinous, citrusy hop flavors mixed with aggressive bitterness from a massive kettle addition deliver on that aromatic promise.

Pours a clear orange with a white head. Aroma of pine, alcohol, mango. Taste is bitterness. A bit too bitter if you ask me. Medium mouthfeel and carb.

Another great dipa from Bell’s. Pours a beautiful orange with great lacing. Aromas of sugary malts and grapefruit. Some skunk. Flavors are heavy sweet caramel malts and more citrus. Delicious.

Served on-tap at Capone’s.

A - Pours hazy golden orange with a nice one finger tall white head leaving thin, spotty, lace down the glass.

S - Smells of grassy and citric hops, fresh cut pine, citric fruits; mostly grapefruit and tangerine; and some light sweet caramel malt.

T - Starts off with a big dose of grassy hop bitterness quickly giving way to a mix of citric fruits and hops, light caramel sweetness, and some sticky pine resin. The finish is a mix of bitter hops and light dryness, lingering on the pallet for a short period of time.

M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Bitter, slightly sweet, feel that becomes a little dry at the end of each sip.

O - Not too bad. After drinking all those hoppy Hill Farmstead beers this one was a bit of a letdown but I still enjoyed it. I wouldn’t turn one down in the future.

36cl, at 10%Vol, American brew, thx alot to Thomas for bringing this over!, complex bitter brew, heavily bitter/malty/fruity and slightly woody/floral, balanced, hazy, small head, good brew, yet expensive!

Bottle. Pours clear golden amber with creamy off-white head. Aroma is cereal and biscuit malts, toast, light caramel, faint mango, spicy hops, and faint orange peel. Flavor is fresh grassy and floral hop bitterness, toasted malts, faint pear, and faint woody notes; bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation.

From a bottle. Pours hazy amber with a bubbly off white head and lots of lacing. Tastes like sweet caramel and strong dry citrus and pine hops. Nutty, malty, and boozy. Medium body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet caramel and orange, booze, and nutty hops.

Pours an orange straw color. Thin white head with some nice lacing. Some citrus in the aroma. Taste is all bitter and alcohol. Lots of grapefruit in the finish. I know I am supposed to really like this from its rating history but its just too much on the alcohol and not enough hop aroma or flavor.

APPEARANCE - Clear orange with a off-white 2-finger head that lasts. Good lacing AROMA/SCENT - Sweet, citrusy. TASTE - Bitter, dry. ABV well-hidden. MOUTHFEEL/PALATE/TEXTURE - Beer is light, well-carbonated, with a pleasantly creamy head. VALUE - A bit pricey OVERALL/DRINKABILITY - A very fine beer indeed. Quaffable.

Poured from a bottle (bottled on 8/8, drank on 8/29) into a snifter. Somewhat hazy copper orange with a lacy white head. Aroma is a subtle citrus with a bit of mango and floral notes. The taste is dominated by an almost Stone-like bitterness with little of the sweetness you expect from a DIPA. Unlike the aroma, the taste is mostly pine and resin hops with a long, long lingering bitterness. Carbonation is heavy and the alcohol is very well hidden. This is a very nice beer, but it’s less complex than I expect for the style and not quite worth the price (IMO), which brings it from a 16 overall to a 15.

Aggresive hop bitterness balanced by citrus, lemon peel, caramel, light fruit juice, gains and pine. Slightly tart with a nice bite.
