Our take on the West Coast-style Double India Pale Ale, The Oracle places hop intensity first & foremost, making only the slightest concession to malt & balance. The fireworks start with the floral aromatic punch of two separate dry-hop sessions with Amarillo and NZ Pacific Jade. Resinous, citrusy hop flavors mixed with aggressive bitterness from a massive kettle addition deliver on that aromatic promise.

Pours cloudy orange amber with low white head. Aroma of resin, grapefruit, light caramel. Taste is rich resin bitter with a mild grapefruit bitter finish. Light to medium bodied and smooth with soft carbonation.

From bottle, the pour is clear golden and orange in cold with a medium off-white white head. The aroma is hoppy with fruit notes. The taste is smooth, sweet from the malts, and a quick hop backbone. There are notes of vanilla lightly roasted malts in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium with strong carbonation.

10/14/16. Bottle. Big, over the top DIPA. Surprisingly mild nose (older bottle?) but huge hop and alcohol battle going on in the mouth. Not boozy but definitely leaves a hop flavor behind for a while. Resinous. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle from The Caboose in Ashland, VA The DIPA poured hazy amber color with a small off white head that dissipated to n off-white collar. There was nice lacing. The aroma of floral hops with hints of pine and tropical fruits. Nice start! The taste was more complex with some alcohol sweetness but a balanced ale with bitter pine resin dominating. Some other fruits come into play: peaches and grapefruit. The ale has a medium body with soft carbonation. Bitterness is solid, but gentle enough not to throw the sip off kilter.

Pours copper-orange into the glass, with a small soapy white head that reduces to a tiny ring that leaves light soap lace. The nose is definitively floral. The flavors are of caramel, mixed citrus, phenols and earthen notes, finishing with an aggressive piney hop bitterness that mingles with the peppering alcoholic heat. The full body has an oily palate and semi-chewy mouthfeel. This is a nice DIPA, and one that has plenty of substance and complexity... maltiness, huge bitters, alcohol, citrus and woodiness. Who could ask for anything more? Superb!

Bottle-I have been wanting to have this one for many years. I wish i had a more fresh sample than this July bottle (over 2 months old). Regardless, i will rate it as it is. Pours slightly hazy dark orange with a very small spritzy white head and sparse lacing. Actually a pretty cool looking brew. Nose is slightly ozidized floral/citric hops, lite alcohol and big sticky robust hops. again, this was not fresh so it smelled a bit on the sweet side. Flavors of big sugary sweet hops to start mixed with a big pale malt base. Finish is huge resinous bitterness-think spearamint, earthy and piney with lots of minty notes. I REALLY want a fresh sample of this beer because i bet its pretty damn fantastic.

Slightly orange gold color with a nice white head. The aroma is mostly pine and orange/tangerine, with some sweet, light colored caramel malt. The flavor brings a lot more malt into the mix, with a slightly toasty note. The hops are very prominent on the back end, lending resinous pine, floral, spicy, and citrus flavors. The alcohol is pretty noticeable but who cares!, this is tasty.
