3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 gearbike (512) - West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA - MAR 12, 2012Pours a dark copper from a bottle or tap. Big smell of wants about to come in the taste. This beer is very bitter but not in an earthy manner. I think it would be crisper as you do get the usual grapefruit and pine taste but I think a strong off alcohol flavor mutes everything. The body is medium but very stick to your mouth. My favorite brewer and a great style but this one is just fair.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Imaena (1066) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JUN 15, 2013
Bottle. This is a nasty good IPA with lots of grassy hops and bit citrus bite. If you see it buy it.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 otakuden (1704) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 26, 2013
Appearance:
Deep burnished garnet and amber under a copper-hued fluffy head which fades into a thick collar that covers the entirety of my glass. Swirls thick and dense.
Nose:
Massive explosion of mossy fernery and greenery up front leads into dried hop cones, dirt, and terroir. Mandarin zest and peel in the back. A voracious nose bent on consuming all my senses before I even get to have a quaff. Cumin and curry powder on top for playful exotic spiciness.
Palate:
Not quite as big and swampy and earthen as the nose led me to believe, but still very powerful and impressive. Bitter orange followed by mandarin and lemon rind in the finish – oily and zesty and bitter all at once. Tickle of spice in my breath – ginger, cumin, and curry. Fir trees and pine tree bark skirt the edges while underneath is a presence of terroir and rows upon rows of lush hop bines. Slight hint of white grapefruit at the very back of the swallow. Yowza!
Final Thoughts:
A fabulous imperial/double IPA from the fine folks at Bells Brewery. Limited and elusive, I’d easily rank Oracle up there with Hopslam in regards to rareness and tastiness. Damn good. My only itsy bitsy minutiae critique is for a bit more greenery and terroir.

Bottle share Sybarite Pig. A little old but still OK. Pours a very hazy dark orange with light head. Great pine, citrus and malts aroma. Taste is complex and well balanced with pine, citrus, floral hops and huge malt. Wonderful smooth finish. Very good.

Bottle as shown. Pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. The aroma is floral and pine. Thick mouthfeel with a very dry hop flavor and very bitter finish. Alcohol hidden well, a very good IIPA.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 gabbama (201) - Dayton, Ohio, USA - MAR 5, 2013
Pours light brown with a thick off-white head. Rich, sweet floral, resin, and citrus aroma. Huge resinous flavor of grapefruit rind. The huge bitterness is balanced somewhat by a caramel sweetness that comes through late. Very full body, slightly syrupy and soft carbonation. The late sweetness gives way to a long, bitter finish. Wow. Need to find this again.

pours amber with a quarter inch white head.leaves nice lacing.aroma of grapefruit, musky melon and caramel.aroma is kinda mild and not overly hoppy.flavor of grapefruit, pineapple, melon and caramel.the hops are more pronounced in the flavor than in the aroma.full bodied with medium carbonation and a dry citrus finish.this beer is nice.i could rate this higher if the aroma was more evident.my bottle is six months old and that may have caused a dimishing in the aroma.flavor was still fantastic though.very good dipa
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 knickskicks (503) - - JAN 11, 2013
Clear copper/red, thin off white head, good lacing. Nose is grapefruit, sweet bready malts. Taste is citrus fruits, pulpy grapefruit, watery melon, dry bitter finish.
Disclaimer: This was a few months old, still excellent though so it warranted a review.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 S_Side_Smitty (222) - Lakeland, Florida, USA - DEC 31, 2012
Pours cloudy amber with a medium off-white head. Aroma is a nice blend of caramel and hops. Taste is sweet & syrupy up front, quickly transforming into black pepper and a strong biting earthy bitterness that lingers through the finish. At first the alcohol is not noticeable until you think about it. The bitterness is almost a wine-like bitterness (maybe cabernet or a country style rustic zinfandel). Never been a big fan of bitter wines, but those of you who are may like this.
