COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our take on the West Coast-style Double India Pale Ale, The Oracle places hop intensity first & foremost, making only the slightest concession to malt & balance. The fireworks start with the floral aromatic punch of two separate dry-hop sessions with Amarillo and NZ Pacific Jade. Resinous, citrusy hop flavors mixed with aggressive bitterness from a massive kettle addition deliver on that aromatic promise.

Bottled. An unclear amber beer with a thin yellowish head. The aroma has notes of grapefruit and over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of fruit combined with medium notes of grapefruit from the hops, leading to a bitter finish.

Hazy amber gold beer. Softish dry palate. Rich but smooth hops that smack you in the face with bitter grapefruit and bitter aniseed. Finishes dry with a lingering bitter aftertaste.

Thanks to GT2 for the phone tip, alerting me that this was on draft at Churchkey. Clear golden color, white edge head. Amazing aroma of pine > grass > flowers. Taste is pine boughs wrapped in lemon rinds, perfect balance. Best beer of the night.

A: The Oracle pours a hazy copper color with a very fluffy white head and amazing lacing. S: Can you say hops? I had very high hopes for this one and I was not let down. An absolute assault of pine and grapefruit hops followed by a slight malt sweetness. T: Much as I would have expected from the nose. This is a very bitter beer. Very bitter (I felt the need to emphasize this). After the initial pine subsides, there is a very refreshing grapefruit flavor. The finish is resinous and bitter as well. M: The carbonation is actually fairly low which gives the beer a very sticky mouthfeel. D: You have to be an absolute hophead to enjoy this one. It is a very bitter hopbomb, and very different from Two Hearted and Hopslam. I am very pleased with this offering from Bell’s, however. They rarely seem to disappoint.
