COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our take on the West Coast-style Double India Pale Ale, The Oracle places hop intensity first & foremost, making only the slightest concession to malt & balance. The fireworks start with the floral aromatic punch of two separate dry-hop sessions with Amarillo and NZ Pacific Jade. Resinous, citrusy hop flavors mixed with aggressive bitterness from a massive kettle addition deliver on that aromatic promise.

Very hazy golden amber with 2 fingers of creamy, white head that slowly dissipates. A lot of lacing. No carbonation. Nose is all DIPA. Very strong citrus and pine notes with a lot of that hoppy bitterness we all love. Very sweet with a slight malt backbone. Mouth is also typical. Very, VERY bitter. A lot of citrus but once again, it is balanced nicely with a resinous, sticky quality. There is Definitely some sweetness present here, mainly oranges and grapefruit. A very creamy feel that leaves a pleasent after taste. Pretty much a hopslam without the honey, but still, delicious, none the less. One of my favorites.

Bottle from flandersned-thanks, Steve! Copper colored. Pine and orange aromas. Full bodied and well balanced. Bit on the danker side for my tastes, but this is a great DIPA

Big hops here and are the showcase, with the malt bill very much in the background. Citrus flavor with a dry bitter finish. Some hop spice notes and warmth from the alcohol.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Tom C. Slightly hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of citric hops, slightly piney, a bit of alcohol note and a bit of malt. Sweetish malty flavor with some slightly stale citric and piney hops, a bit resinous, finishes with strong bitterness and an alcoholic hint. Medium-bodied, kinda chewy.

BIG grapefruit, mango and pineapple. Just huge. The aroma just filled the air. Was like salivating waiting to try this one. Taste is a blast of grapfruit, resinous hops, pine and pineapple. Massive bitterness. This is a big beer. Absolutely awesome. I haven’t been so excited to try a beer in a while so this was a really pleasant surprise.

Bottle - Grapefruit and sweet pine. Cloudy gold with a nice white rich head. Bitter grapefruit, sweet caramel and a bitter dry finish.

New Beer Distributors, NYC bottle ($3): Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma is pine, resin, grapefruit, and some sugary malt. Taste is quite bitter, with only a bit of sweetness. Nice hoppy aftertaste. The citrus and pine flavors hit hard. This is pretty much what one does and should expect from the masters at Bells.

Bottle with Paul. Pours a golden amber body with thin white active lacing. Aroma is very sweet, saccharine, cloying character. Light grapefruit/bitter citrus fruit. Mouthfeel follows through with the sweet syrupy sugar character taking away from the overall palate; notes of pith, grapefruit, bitter pine resin, sugar syrup and honey. Ultimately the alcohol character detracts from the overall impression of the beer.

Bottle to glass pour. Very rust orange color. Wild hop flavor, Amarillo hops shine through tremendously. Resinous taste. Not a fan of Amarillo hops normally, but very good attempt at west coast style

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2014 Juicy, touch soapy, foamy, bitter lemon, pine and some grapefruit. Pine on the nose, enjoyable.

Bottle to glass. Pours a mostly clear golden light amber color with a light tan head. Aroma is somewhat mild, piney, floral, fleshy fruit hops. Flavor is much more full, with syrupy fleshy fruit hoppy goodness, a touch of alcohol, a solid caramel malt background. Medium body with a strong lingering boozy hoppiness. Tasty for sure, but with the ratings, I was expecting greatness.
