Our take on the West Coast-style Double India Pale Ale, The Oracle places hop intensity first & foremost, making only the slightest concession to malt & balance. The fireworks start with the floral aromatic punch of two separate dry-hop sessions with Amarillo and NZ Pacific Jade. Resinous, citrusy hop flavors mixed with aggressive bitterness from a massive kettle addition deliver on that aromatic promise.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2015 Picked up 2 bottles from local liquor store, drank one the first day, let other sit for 2 weeks. Not a noticeable difference in tastes, wished I would have let it sit a bit longer. Strong beer, with alcohol being prominent all throughout. Crisp finish though. Would try again. Fruit notes also prominent but gives way to a mini palate wrecker.

Pours golden hazy. Good foamy head. Moderate carbonation. Nose is lemon, faint honey, resin. Taste is hop bitterness, malt is toast almost buried by hops which have a profile that is not that diverse. Like the intensity, drinkability, but not as balanced as some other DIPAs.

Faint orange peel and pencil shavings aroma. Cloudy orange, medium yellow head, nice lacing. Lemon zest, whole orange. Grapefruit peel finish. Full body, moderate carbonation, extremely bitter, resinous. Wow, the IBUs are off the chart with this one. I can tolerate quite a bit of the overhopping that has become in vogue, but I didn’t enjoy this very much. Tone it down.

Pours a murky deep golden with a luxurious white head. The head is so rich, once it recedes, literally the entire inside surface of the glass. Competing tangerine and sweet grapefruit nose. Nice and clean. Puffy mouthfeel. Alcohol is noted nearly immediately, but not before the abundance of citrus bursts.

Pours hazy dark golden color with white head. Citrus and light caramel aromas. Grapefruit and pine flavors with moderate bitterness and a hint of sweetness. Medium body with average carbonation.

Pours medium orange with a one finger off white head which fades to just a little lacing. Aroma is of a lot sweet malts, caramel, booze, some citrus, some pine, and some tropical fruits. Taste is very sweet with a lot of sweet malts and caramel dominating, with some mild citrus, pine and some light booze in the finish. Overall, I wonder if I got a bad bottle, has this is a rather disappointing beer that is way too sweet and boozy.

Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle, bottled on July 10, 2015, from Sergio’s. Bright translucent orange with small white head. Aroma is grapefruit hops, medium/thick body, and good small bubble lacing. Taste is grapefruit hops, some dank, some herbal hope, some pine hops, some booze, and bitter finish. Quite flavorful, but heavier.

12 oz bottle from arminjewell. Nose is pine with mango and papaya changing to very tropical fruity as it is imbibed. Murky yellow orange with a medium off white head. Flavor is moderately bitter with malty and resinous notes. Good but not great compared to a lot of the newer brews.

Bottle, thnx to SummerSanta. Pours a slightly hazy, golden beer with a small white head on top. Aroma has massive citrus. grapefruits and piney resinous matters. Incredibly hoppy with a faint malty, boozy backbone. Flavor is bitter, hoppy, citrussy with some grassy, hay notes. Alcohol takes over in the back, giving it a sweet, sticky moutfheel and finish. Very well balanced, with soothing booze and no flaws. A bit one dimensional in the hop characters, but overall a very nice beer!

Really!!! Wow was I disappointed by this beer. Looks like they tried to make an unfiltered IIPA but half assed it. Little aroma, too much carb.... and the taste was straight up grapefruit pith with some booze. No flavor, just bitterness.... all for an exorbitantly high price. Avoid unless you are addicted to bitterness.
