COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our take on the West Coast-style Double India Pale Ale, The Oracle places hop intensity first & foremost, making only the slightest concession to malt & balance. The fireworks start with the floral aromatic punch of two separate dry-hop sessions with Amarillo and NZ Pacific Jade. Resinous, citrusy hop flavors mixed with aggressive bitterness from a massive kettle addition deliver on that aromatic promise.

Picked up 2 bottles from local liquor store, drank one the first day, let other sit for 2 weeks. Not a noticeable difference in tastes, wished I would have let it sit a bit longer. Strong beer, with alcohol being prominent all throughout. Crisp finish though. Would try again. Fruit notes also prominent but gives way to a mini palate wrecker.

Pour is deep golden with an orange hue. White head, which is leaving a nice lacing. Aroma is slightly dank and resinous with pine and grapefruit shining through. Slight sweetness on the nose, tiny biscuity grain note. Taste is bittersweet pine/citrus that rolls quickly and quietly into sweet malt and tropical pineapple tangerine type bitter before finishing with a piney bitterness. The bitterness is ever increasing but is limited to the mid to back palate. More flavor on the taste, more bitter on the finish and beyond. Sort of thin body. Delicious none the less.

Poured from a bottle dated 8/08/14into a pint glass a dark orange amber with a white head. Aroma is juicy citrus hops & mild sweetness. Flavor is bitter bite your ass bitter. Quite good & balanced. Not disappointed but not my fave DIPA by Bells.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/8/2014. Pours slightly hazy bright orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head, with incredible retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pinapple, lemon/orange zest, citrus rind, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a good malt/bitterness balance and minimal cloying bitterness after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a moderately slick/sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. All around great complexity and balance of citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; and fairly smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Medium orange / amber brew with dense white head. Aroma of floral, citrus and resinous hops. Taste is hops forward with citrus and resin right up front, some malt follows with a good bitter resin finish. Excellent DIPA.

Pours a golden copper orangish. Aroma is of caramel malt, yeasty, citrus and light pine. Flavor is a deep rich orange flavor with a very strong bitterness that quickly goes away and comes back strong at the finish. Very resiny unique IPA.

Darn good. Pours a cloudy, pineapple-yellow, with little head. Very floral, fruity aroma. Flavor is intensely bitter, with citrus and fruit, as well as some underlying sweetness. Finish is bitter. Very resinous mouth feel. Glad I could score a couple of bottles...

Strong dank and resinous aroma, pours a clear golden amber with a thin white head. Strong hop forward flavor, with a punch of citrus, pine, and dankness. There’s just a touch of malt noticeable at the beginning, but it quickly gets overpowered. There’s a bit of alcohol warmness, with a long lingering bitter finish. This is a solid DIPA, and I’m glad to have some.

pepsican (1444) - @ $13.99, Iowa, USA - AUG 19, 2014
Hazy orange with a soapy white head. Skunky pine aroma, lots of tree, resin, some cantaloupe. Aggressively bitter, orange peel, more pine tar. A bit on the stale side (7/31 bootle date, purchased day of release). Honestly reminds me of a Hopslam with more bitterness. Chewy mouthfeel but not horrendously malty. Not bad, I remember it being much better.

Bottle. Poured a clear copper color with a medium sized white head.Aroma was citrus hops, pine resin, some light florals, caramel malts. Flavor was pretty malty, with a decent balance of pine notes, grassy notes, some squeezed lemons. Lots of booze on this one, though not offensive. Very warming.

Golden orange, thin lasting white head, good lacing. Aroma is of pine, cedar, some lingering tropical fruits, oranges. Flavour is quite hoppy, malt backbone, alcohol, lots of bitterness, very citrusy. Bitter hoppy mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes long and hoppy, warm. I like it but again I guess I just prefer regular IPA’S.  Balanced though.

Opened on September 8, 2010.
Batch #9901.
