Our take on the West Coast-style Double India Pale Ale, The Oracle places hop intensity first & foremost, making only the slightest concession to malt & balance. The fireworks start with the floral aromatic punch of two separate dry-hop sessions with Amarillo and NZ Pacific Jade. Resinous, citrusy hop flavors mixed with aggressive bitterness from a massive kettle addition deliver on that aromatic promise.

Deep gold, with almost an orange hue. Fairly hazy appearance. Half-inch thick foam that holds up exceptionally, leaving a clingy lace once it finally settles. Bright pine and citrus grace the aroma with a doughy, caramel malt balance and some notes of alcohol layered underneath. Smells like this one will be a pretty big Double. Indeed the citrus hops are massively intense, but they still strike a balance with a hefty malt sweetness. The finish carries a robust and lasting bitterness, and the alcohol is warming but not overly excessive. Medium body with a touch of syrupy slickness, the carbonation is appropriate. Iíve waited a long time to try this beer, and while it wasnít a unique revelation, it certainly ranks up there as a great DIPA. The intensity is much like Hop Slam, with perhaps an even greater degree of balance. I would prefer my IPAís more on the single side, but those who like them strong will enjoy this immensely.

Bottled 07/10/15. Pour into ipa glass very pretty orange golden, lightly hazy , white head. Aroma is pine, slightly dank, orange, lemon peel, light pineapple note. Flavor is boozy, some of that heat, some malt, dank hops, an orange rind and lemon peel note Really big bitter hop finish. Total Midwest hops. This is an astringent finish.

Tasted from bottle. Pours a clear amber gold with thick white head. Great lacing. Sweet caramel and toffee aroma with some floral notes. Taste is moderate to heavily bitter with nice malt backbone. Clean constant bitter taste. Flavors of pine, floral, caramel, toffee, spices, and a hint of citrus fruits. Excellent IPA but not best of the best. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Resinous hops really make this one. Wow at the bite of the dry hop brew. Looks great. Taste is almost a bit too much even for a hop drinker.

The aroma is malt-bread, hops-floral/citrus. Pours a slightly cloudy copper/orange with a medium white head and excellent lacing. The taste is very bitter. The body is medium, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish a long bitter. Very good.

Bottle shared much thanks to Dan. Pours out a decent amber color with a small white head. Aroma is of grapefruit meat, citrus and some light pine notes. Taste is a nice punch of fruity citrus and pine hops with some light balance in there of some taosty malts, and then more hops with a slightly drying alcohol note on the finish. Tasty

This is a a double India pale ale ale according to the bottle. Being a fans of pale ale ale and esp. India pale ale ale, I can only imagine that a double version would be almost as good but slightly too sweet and no more hoppy. Hey! Well here we are. This is a cloudy orange amber w/ a thin head of fine white bubbles. Itís got a nice hoppy nose. I get floral notes up front in the nose, maybe a touch of citrus well. This is a bit on the sweet side--which is a trait it has in common w/ Two Hearted--and this is exacerbated at itís ten-plus-percent alcohol strength. It is really hard to make a hoppy beer of this gravity and pretty much displays the problems w/ the style to a T. Since Bellís has a beer of this style done well--ever heard of Hopslam?--I just canít see any reason for this to exist.
