On tap at Bells. Definitely not my favorite style. Very tart with dry finish. Pretty good for the style.

On tap served in snifter. Pours a light Merlot with tan head. Aromas Brett, sour cherries, hay, and oak. Flavor profile lines up with the aromas. Light on the palate, medium carbonation, dry finish.

On tap at Bells on 8/7/15. Clear chestnut red/brown in color with a thin beige head. Aroma of malt, funky sourness, tart berry and light acetone. Sweet malt and funk flavor with light caramel before a tart berry finish.

Pretty damn sour. Heavy acetic component, I’m not crazy about this one but I know many who would be.

On tap at MBGSF 2015. Amber pour with an off-white head. Sour candy aroma, berry. Great sour, tart berry, a SweetTarts candy sensation. A great one.

Pours darker amber mostly unclear with a beige head. Aroma is light tart and refreshing malt and yeast. Body is low on carb but balanced well with a tart flavor that ends so nicely and smoothly on the palate.

Bell’s The Wild One is quite the enigma. Lots of complexity but with a major drawback. Murky brown pour with a nice foamy head. Lots of aroma of sour fruit. Taste is a complex combination of stone fruit, oak and wine with a solid sour quality that unfortunately fades into a strong vinegar aftertaste (for me) that lasts for HOURS. This one will definitely appeal to sour-heads. While I can appreciate The Wild One, it is too wild for me.

Draft at ITAP Soulard during a StL Craft Beer Week tap take over. Call this brown for lack of anything better. A beige head. This is a very drinkable sour. It brings funk, but it is moderate at best. Wood, bugs, bark, cherries and more dark fruit. Really nicely understated. Malts are pleasant. Berries and plums. Nice complexity. I like this. It does not eat your face off but it is a very enjoyable beer.
