COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Per bellsbeer.com/blog , "This One Goes to 11 Ale opens with bright, juicy aromas such as tropical fruits & ripe cherries, largely derived from massive kettle & dry-hop additions of Southern Hemisphere hop varieties such as Galaxy, Motueka, and Summer. The citrus & resinous pine notes of the Pacific Northwest hop family are also well represented, making their presence known through Simcoe, Citra, and the newly released Mosaic varietal, just to name a few. A wide range of specialty malts anchor the hops to this IMPERIAL RED ALE, contrasting the assertive bitterness & juicy aromatics with a robust, toasty depth of flavor. Fermented with Bell’s signature house ale yeast, This One Goes to 11 Ale finishes with a lingering warmth."

First beer of the afternoon over at Matt’s .. . pours a deep amber .. . mild head, lacing is radical .. . deep sap, red wood, and odd caramel .. . large mouth but with a fast finish .. . a nice beer but nothing all that exciting .. . . It’s basically like you’re shooting a free throw, and then you miss, and someone punches you right in the nose.

This beer is quite remarkable. It hides the 11% remarkably. Great lacing, gorgeous amber hues. Hops are aggressive but tight and defined. Malty toasted afterthoughts maybe a honey sweetness. Great beer... Get one while you can.

Bottle given to me by a friend. Beautiful red pour with a medium beige head. Aroma of malt, citrus, pine and spicy hops with a light touch of alcohol. Flavor starts sweet with malt and honey, then moves to orange peel and grapefruit before a resinous, piney finish. Really enjoyed this one.

I usually love Bells, but for me, "this one goes down the drain". I know its 11 percent but its is so overly aggressive on the palate. Hazy glowing red-brown pour with white head. Sugars, wood, booze, caramel, bready malt, and strong hop bite. Insanely warming in the body. Just way too boozey and almost nail polishy like dogfish 120. Not a fan, ill stick to hopslam.

It smells awesome, burning the nose into anticipation of the bitterness to come, plus a variety of other citrus and floral aromas. Definitely intense, and at first thought maybe the aroma was a trade but actually very flavorful - more as time passes. A keeper. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Orange-red with enormous, tightly-bubbled head that sticks around for awhile. Big caramel and "red" aroma with piney hops. Flavor is big sweet malts with piney hop kick at the end. No mistaking this as an imperial red ipa hybrid. I wish the malts were a little less sweet, and that the abv was a little better hidden, but this is an imperial, after all. Strong and pretty tasty beer. Would like to try more IPA/red hybrids - Summit’s Horizon was quite tasty in particular.
