Per bellsbeer.com/blog , "This One Goes to 11 Ale opens with bright, juicy aromas such as tropical fruits & ripe cherries, largely derived from massive kettle & dry-hop additions of Southern Hemisphere hop varieties such as Galaxy, Motueka, and Summer. The citrus & resinous pine notes of the Pacific Northwest hop family are also well represented, making their presence known through Simcoe, Citra, and the newly released Mosaic varietal, just to name a few. A wide range of specialty malts anchor the hops to this IMPERIAL RED ALE, contrasting the assertive bitterness & juicy aromatics with a robust, toasty depth of flavor. Fermented with Bell’s signature house ale yeast, This One Goes to 11 Ale finishes with a lingering warmth."

This beer is awesome. Clear ruby red in color with a whispy kakki head that lingers to the end. Deep cherry in the aroma, grape, passion fruit, caramel. Medium-bodied, lightly carbonated with a lingering finish. Starts out malty and sweet, but not cloying. Balanced well with an assertive, but soft bitterness. Fantastic brew. A real treat.

Bottle. Dark amber pour with a tall, frothy tan head. Strong hop resins, fresh cut pine, citrus fruit, caramel and tropical fruit make up the aroma. Taste is big pine, floral hops, citrus oils, tropical fruit, chewy malt and rich caramel. Body is medium-full and very chewy with lots of resinous notes amongst the dense, creamy carbonation. Lingering hop bitterness throughout this one. Finishes with more rich caramel, chewy malt, strong pine, hops resins, tropical fruit notes and citrus oils. Big, bold double IPA right here!

12 oz bottle via trade with rayl101, thanks Kevin. Poured a nice looking syrupy deep orange with an average sized frothy off white head. Aroma is fruity and syrupy overall, notes of tropical fruit and citrus pulp, ruby red grapefruit, caramel, molasses. Big full syrupy body that coats nicely and only has a touch of heat on the very end, average carbonation of tiny bubbles. Flavor of hop cones, grapefruit rind, dry tropical fruits, grains, molassess, dry caramel and a touch of vanilla candy. Solid beer.

Pours dark red with a small head. Hoppy grassy piney grapefruit aroma. Malt backbone with up front hops. Caramel candy apple sweetness. Very slick and oily. Solid brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from a recent trade (with Rayl I believe). Let me start by saying this is likely the best imperial red I've ever had. Bells just keeps coming with winners. This one has an excellent malt backbone with the Galaxy and Simcoe hops taking the front seat. Stellar palate to keep the multitude of hop varieties in check. Love it! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Slightly hazy amber with a citrus aroma. Sweet taste with loads of sticky tropical fruit. Thanks to whoever traded this to me. This beer is good but is a touch on the sweet side. Good enough to try once. Meh.

Bottle. Pours reddish amber with an off white head. Some lacing. Nose and taste is almost entirely resin, liquified pine and tree sap. Some caramel malt. Too perfumy and piny for me. A big beer that’s a little too big. Maybe this one should only go to 8. Medium body.

12oz bottle 11/29/12 (Binny’s Downers Grove)-42° in tulip. Pours a dark amber with a small off white head. Aroma of hops, pine, citrus. Taste of the same with more hops and malt. This full bodied brew does drink like a double IPA. Nice job.

Red pour, off white head. Aroma? All resinous christmas trees and some sweet sticky caramel malts. Big bold and overpowering resin with some malts that get lost in the liquid pine trees.

On tap at the Union Woodshop, crystal clear coppery red with minimal head. Bouquet is hoppy with sweet caramely notes dominating. Drinks like a DIPA with a sweet malt backbone, alcohol certainly present. I would call it slightly "hot" with it’s boozy presence most obvious on the back end. The composition for this beer feels a bit muddled, no negativity implied, fun and different + bitchin spinal tap reference of course. The finish is really were it’s at super complex and lingeringness. Tubular broken bells way awesome rad
