COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Per bellsbeer.com/blog , "This One Goes to 11 Ale opens with bright, juicy aromas such as tropical fruits & ripe cherries, largely derived from massive kettle & dry-hop additions of Southern Hemisphere hop varieties such as Galaxy, Motueka, and Summer. The citrus & resinous pine notes of the Pacific Northwest hop family are also well represented, making their presence known through Simcoe, Citra, and the newly released Mosaic varietal, just to name a few. A wide range of specialty malts anchor the hops to this IMPERIAL RED ALE, contrasting the assertive bitterness & juicy aromatics with a robust, toasty depth of flavor. Fermented with Bell’s signature house ale yeast, This One Goes to 11 Ale finishes with a lingering warmth."

12 oz bottle. Almost clear brown with a pocked beige head. Nose is pine, caramel, orange peel and gin. Resiny, medium to full body, some warming; i’m surprised it’s not sticky at all. Taste is mostly bitter and hoppy but subdued with barely noticeable toffee and honey. Grapefruit pith, tangerine and quinine; more depth as it warms. A big beer with balance.

Finally just decided to jump in and have a bottle for myself, at 11% you taste virtually every single ABV in the brew. Aroma is raw hop character, definately some pine comes out on this one, with some citrus character to it. Alcohol burn in the back of the throat makes this one less pleasant than it could have been had they not tried to get this to 11.

12oz bottle from Downer Wine and Spirits. Pours a reddish brown color with a tan head. Aroma is hoppy, tropical fruit, mango, pineapple, some pine. Medium on the palate with smooth carbonation. Flavor is sweet, malty, bready, caramel, some pine hops, with a light, bitter hop finish.

Bottle pours a dark copper color. Even a novice like me can pick out the pine and citrus aroma. The alcohol is present but masked slightly by the hop aroma and calmed by the malt.... but it’s definitely there. After a few big sips of this one, I’m glad I have 11 more bottles of it!

pours amber red with small off white head. Aroma is sweet bready malt with lots of hops. Taste similar with a nice balance of sweet malt and hops, a bit syrupy on the mouthfeel. Really good beer

Draft at mad mex Monroeville. Pours orange with a thin white head that leaves a bit of lacing. Slight citrus note on the nose. Definitely hides its 11% well. A bit of hop flavor on the tongue. Finishes clean. I was kind of bored with this one.

12 oz. bottle. Deep, amber pour with a with a small white crust of a head. Aroma of bright tropical hops, mild pine and grapefruit hops. Apparent maraschino cherries and and caramel. Flavor is bitter, with apparent sweet toasted malt. Mild cherry and molasses. The malt character is a bit too present for my liking making it more balanced than a hop bomb. Nice, I wish it were a bit dryer though. Big mouthfeel, finish is lingering.

Pours a slightly hazy orange copper with a medium tan head. Huge floral hop nose. Fresh citrusy hop flavors backed with a full bodied malty bready profile. Strong hop flavor throughout with a bright finish ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz bottle generously given to me by Scotter. Batch 11,000 bottled on 09/13/12. The pour is a hazed orange copper with a one inch light tan head. The aroma is straw floral hops, with a nice resin and caramel malt presence underneath. Nice, fresh and full nose. The taste is the strong resin hop character right away, harshly bitter, along with a strong caramel malt flavor that turns quickly to a hotly sweet alocohl burn in the finish. The palate is medium bodied, soft carbonation, and the sweetly hot, metallic, slightly oily finish. Thanks for this one Scott, I had wanted to try it.

12 oz thanks to MrBunn. Thanks for coming through in the clutch! Pours a rich, deep ruby brown, with a thick almost glommy white head that glops a little before fading off. Nose is so strong of pine resin and grapefruit hints it makes me want to slap my momma. Taste is so full and sweet, yet appropriately light and lemony somehow, it’s inexplicably the lightest heavy beer I’ve ever tried! This is straight f’d up, yo. Amazing shit. Clean, super well disguised ABV. Is there mint or something in this hiding the alcohol? Otherwise this shouldn’t be possible. Wins my dog licking his own balls award...
