COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Per bellsbeer.com/blog , "This One Goes to 11 Ale opens with bright, juicy aromas such as tropical fruits & ripe cherries, largely derived from massive kettle & dry-hop additions of Southern Hemisphere hop varieties such as Galaxy, Motueka, and Summer. The citrus & resinous pine notes of the Pacific Northwest hop family are also well represented, making their presence known through Simcoe, Citra, and the newly released Mosaic varietal, just to name a few. A wide range of specialty malts anchor the hops to this IMPERIAL RED ALE, contrasting the assertive bitterness & juicy aromatics with a robust, toasty depth of flavor. Fermented with Bellís signature house ale yeast, This One Goes to 11 Ale finishes with a lingering warmth."

Pour from a 12oz bottle. Clear red brew with dense frothy head that sticks to the side of the glass. Aroma of pine, citrus, and resinous hops, a bit of earth and flowers - very IPA in character but more intense and complex. Taste is sweet malts at the start, very hop forward with a barrage of bitter of every strip. Lingering deep bitter finish with warm alcohol burn. A little boozey as it gets warm. Intense and good but kinda overdone - itís hard to come away with a feel for what this is other than complex. But I will most certainly enjoy this while it is around.

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2012 Before I go in to this- This is more drinkable than the ruination 10th anniversary but along the same lines. Red. head is moderate and fading. Nose is citrus, ripe sweet fruits, resins, cooked pineapple, sweet malt. Flavor is again sweet resinous hop oils with sticky sweet malts, caramelized pineapples, cooked peaches with some grapefruit runs thrown in. Sweet malt flavor but finishes with a balance of sweetness and bitterness. Not as bad as the hate is giving it but its another ridiculous sweet IIPA. edit: had another one last night and it just doesnít do it for me-so sweet

Has some nice citrus and resin scents. Pours a nice amber with a quickly fading head. Taste is a very bold bitter, nice hop flavor and a bit of a caramel roast. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce bottle, packaged on 9/13/12. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours a clear reddish/amber color with about an inch light tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The aroma is very nice, it smells like citrusy hops (mango, tropical fruit), toasted and caramel malt, pine hops, oranges, and a bit of cherry. Taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like caramel and toasted malt, citrusy hops (pineapple, mango, tropical fruit), candied oranges, pine hops, and some toffee. Itís sweeter tasting than I thought it would be, I was expecting a little more hoppiness but thatís not a complaint at all! Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, itís creamy and smooth with moderate carbonation. The 11% ABV is well hidden, itís very easy to drink for a beer this strong. I liked this brew a lot, I figure the rest of my 6 pack wonít last too much longer. $17.99 a sixer.

Draft sample at Big Beers. So I guess this is the undercover contiuation of the batch series. Pretty tasty over all. Nice sweet malt to balance the big bitterness.

12 ounce. Taste is sweet and malty. Big hoppy aroma. Some nice bitterness in the aroma. But then the taste goes orange sweet. I just want that sweet toned back a bit. But a nice double or red ale, however you want to call it.

12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy deep orange copper color with a small off white froth. Aroma is mostly piney, some definitely malt base, sweet and bready with a slight cake note, some citric fruits coming out as well, marmalade and sweet orange. Flavor has a bit of oxidation, but with the malt backbone it gives sort of a barleywine character to it, whoa just noticed its 11 percent, really easy drinking for that abv. picking up some of the tropical character, and piney resinous hops, still with that sweet malt. Medium to medium full body and a crisp carbonation. Interesting beer.

I got this beer from my local liquor store after it was sold out... This beer was a gift from one of the people who bought the last six. Payís to be friendly. This beer is everything itís hyped up to be.. The flavors are so well balanced yet distinct. Sweat, malt, gravy, pine, chestnut, citrus, desalinated axle grease, bread, fireworks, bacon and a pony. Well, thatís what it tasted like to me.
