COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Per bellsbeer.com/blog , "This One Goes to 11 Ale opens with bright, juicy aromas such as tropical fruits & ripe cherries, largely derived from massive kettle & dry-hop additions of Southern Hemisphere hop varieties such as Galaxy, Motueka, and Summer. The citrus & resinous pine notes of the Pacific Northwest hop family are also well represented, making their presence known through Simcoe, Citra, and the newly released Mosaic varietal, just to name a few. A wide range of specialty malts anchor the hops to this IMPERIAL RED ALE, contrasting the assertive bitterness & juicy aromatics with a robust, toasty depth of flavor. Fermented with Bellís signature house ale yeast, This One Goes to 11 Ale finishes with a lingering warmth."

Aroma is a bit astringent and chemically but still great hop explosion in there. Taste is a bit too sweet but understandable for the abv. Hops are huge and bitter and balancing the intense sweetness somewhat. Enjoyable.

Courtesy of Skyview. Copper color with a small head. Strong orange and citrus aroma with a bit of lemon. Very strong bitterness. Light caramel and citrus flavor, but just a juicy hop character.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle at Discount Liquors in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Pours a hazy brownish amber colored brew with a thick off-white head that leaves behind some excellent lacing and a cream top. Aroma of 3 Cís hops. A touch of grapefruit, caramel and toffee. Taste is medium to full bodied, soft carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, citrus and floral hops, a hint of grapefruit and a touch of toffee. Taste is quite smooth with a balanced caramel and West Coast hop presence. Alcohol is well hidden.

Bottle. Hazy medium orange-brown body, medium off-white head. Resinous hops nose, lots of sugared grapefruit, orange, and orange peel. Sharp, bitter start to the sip with alcohol heat, fading to sweet, toasty body with brown sugar and intense oily, citrusy hops, finishing with piny bitterness and alcohol heat in the nostrils. Sweet but not syrupy. Leafy and chewy too with fall leaves and tobacco. Complex and strong but muddled.

Bottle from Sean - thanks! Slightly murky brown/orange pour with a nice froth of tan foam. Aroma is sweet malt and caramel with sharp pine and complimentary bitterness. Taste is a nice balance of heavy, sweet malt with caramel and toffee notes followed by some light toasted malt and char with resinous pine and bitterness. Lingering bitterness on each sip and a clean drinker for the double digit ABV. Sure, itís a fairly common high ABV strong ale with pine and bitterness but Bells does it as good or better than anyone else. Great beer.

12oz Bottle. Thanks so much Sean for taking me over the edge. Smell the glove, people, because this beer goes to 11! Iíve really been into strong beers lately, as long as they arenít ruinously sweet or overly flawed, so Iím taking the dry heat of this beer gracefully. The aroma gives clean alcohol and piney hops. In the middle, thereís some crystal malt, some Bellís house yeast, and lots of alcohol, which makes it enjoyable sippable on a cool night. However, the hoppiness in the middle is sleepy and the crystal malt too obvious, leaving with you with a less than 11 experience, unfortunately.. A fun inspiration, though.

12 oz. bottle shared at a tasting. Pours a mostly clear, rich gold color with just a bit of red-orange hue and a small eggshell white head. Aroma of big citrus and floral notes, sweet malts, bread, and toasted sugar. Flavor of floral notes, citrus peel, pine resin, caramel, and pineapple. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a resinous, bitter mouthfeel that finishes crisp. Drinks like an imperial IPA. Nice beer.

Sticky sweet, grossly. Piney, citrusy. Full bodied and cloying, damn near sugary. . Yer gonna make something this sweet, balance it with some hops. Better yet, ferment it down a few more points and then hop the shit out of it, ok? Kinda rediculous. Thanks Todd! Bells brews good black beers.
