COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Per bellsbeer.com/blog , "This One Goes to 11 Ale opens with bright, juicy aromas such as tropical fruits & ripe cherries, largely derived from massive kettle & dry-hop additions of Southern Hemisphere hop varieties such as Galaxy, Motueka, and Summer. The citrus & resinous pine notes of the Pacific Northwest hop family are also well represented, making their presence known through Simcoe, Citra, and the newly released Mosaic varietal, just to name a few. A wide range of specialty malts anchor the hops to this IMPERIAL RED ALE, contrasting the assertive bitterness & juicy aromatics with a robust, toasty depth of flavor. Fermented with Bellís signature house ale yeast, This One Goes to 11 Ale finishes with a lingering warmth."

On tap at 7 Monks. Deep amber/ruby pour with a thick toffee cap that left behind some intricate sticky lacing. Nose initially quite sweet with caramel and candy notes followed by a big dose of piney and fruity hops. Taste is very, very sweet and also hugely bitter. Heavier side of medium bodied, oily, sticky, with an active carbonation and a lengthy finish. A nice, huge beer fitting of the occasion and the name.

Excellent imperial red. The fruity after taste is pronounced. Big hops throughout. I want more. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine in Chesapeake, VA. Pours dark orange with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of pineapple, grapefruit, and wet grass. Excellent taste of grapefruit rind, pine, pineapple, and tangerine. Some alcohol warming with this one. A great beer!

12 oz thanks to MrBunn. Thanks for coming through in the clutch! Pours a rich, deep ruby brown, with a thick almost glommy white head that glops a little before fading off. Nose is so strong of pine resin and grapefruit hints it makes me want to slap my momma. Taste is so full and sweet, yet appropriately light and lemony somehow, itís inexplicably the lightest heavy beer Iíve ever tried! This is straight fíd up, yo. Amazing shit. Clean, super well disguised ABV. Is there mint or something in this hiding the alcohol? Otherwise this shouldnít be possible. Wins my dog licking his own balls award...

Bottle given to me by a friend. Beautiful red pour with a medium beige head. Aroma of malt, citrus, pine and spicy hops with a light touch of alcohol. Flavor starts sweet with malt and honey, then moves to orange peel and grapefruit before a resinous, piney finish. Really enjoyed this one.

12 ounce bottle, packaged on 9/13/12. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours a clear reddish/amber color with about an inch light tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. The aroma is very nice, it smells like citrusy hops (mango, tropical fruit), toasted and caramel malt, pine hops, oranges, and a bit of cherry. Taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like caramel and toasted malt, citrusy hops (pineapple, mango, tropical fruit), candied oranges, pine hops, and some toffee. Itís sweeter tasting than I thought it would be, I was expecting a little more hoppiness but thatís not a complaint at all! Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, itís creamy and smooth with moderate carbonation. The 11% ABV is well hidden, itís very easy to drink for a beer this strong. I liked this brew a lot, I figure the rest of my 6 pack wonít last too much longer. $17.99 a sixer.

Bottled 9/13/12. Appearance: copper and red but fairly clear with a big yellowish khaki head that dissipates quickly. Aroma: big caramel and toasted malts, and piney, resinous and citrusy hops with alcohol deeper in the smell. Taste: a sweet maltiness that is actually very well balanced with the high hop profile, bitter and slightly sweet finish with just a tad of the alcohol coming in but definitely not as hot as many 11% beers. Mouthfeel: thin to medium texture with a relatively low carbonation. Overall: I really think this is a pretty awesome high ABV brew. They did a really great job of countering the big malt and alcohol sweetness with multi-style hopping. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured into snifter, a dark amber with one finger beige head a decent amount of lacing with some alcohol legs. Up front the aroma is citrus hops im getting strong grapefruit and also some pine followed by a sugary sweetness. The taste is very well balanced a very nice hop profile im picking up mostly those piney hops and some honey type sweetness towards the middle of the tongue and the back end is slightly bitter. The alcohol is noticeable but very mellow and fits in perfectly. Very nice sipper here.

Great hop aromas. Citrusy hop flavors. One of the best batch beers. Overall fantastic.
