COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Per bellsbeer.com/blog , "This One Goes to 11 Ale opens with bright, juicy aromas such as tropical fruits & ripe cherries, largely derived from massive kettle & dry-hop additions of Southern Hemisphere hop varieties such as Galaxy, Motueka, and Summer. The citrus & resinous pine notes of the Pacific Northwest hop family are also well represented, making their presence known through Simcoe, Citra, and the newly released Mosaic varietal, just to name a few. A wide range of specialty malts anchor the hops to this IMPERIAL RED ALE, contrasting the assertive bitterness & juicy aromatics with a robust, toasty depth of flavor. Fermented with Bellís signature house ale yeast, This One Goes to 11 Ale finishes with a lingering warmth."

Bottle pours a dark copper color. Even a novice like me can pick out the pine and citrus aroma. The alcohol is present but masked slightly by the hop aroma and calmed by the malt.... but itís definitely there. After a few big sips of this one, Iím glad I have 11 more bottles of it!

Bottle from Tim, thanks man! Appearance is reddish brown with a nice amount of head. Aroma is pine, brown sugar, and sweet caramel malts. Taste is brown sugar, pine, with a hoppy bitter sweet finish. Medium mouthfeel, nice carb. Solid strong ale, malty and big but without the alcohol burn.

Poured an amber red with aromas of booze and tropical fruit. Flavors are malt, fruit, cherries, booze and some light caramel. Solid and enjoyable 11% is there but not as hot as I expected.

Bottle to glass. Sweet label. Pours a slight hazy amber color with a light tan head. Aroma is a very pleasant hop wallop, with floral fruity aromas. Nice malty balance in the flavor. A very nice beer indeed.

Bottle @ home. A bit opaque medium red color, medium to full sized white to off-white head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, some sweetness, some resinous - piney soft sweet - bitter. Medium body and carbonation.

From notes. Tasted in December 2012 from a capped 12oz bottle. Pours orange amber with a thick beige head that slowly recedes to fairly thick lace. The nose is quite malty with plenty of earthy and floral hops. The flavor is the same, super malty and very hoppy. The body is full and sticky with average carbonation and a long malty and hoppy finish.

"This imperial red was 3 mo old but tasted and smelled older. Too bad, cause the malts used were really nice, with a Carmely fruity nutty sweetness. There were some citrus hops and bitterness left but they were obviously faded. Fresh, I think this may be in Oskar blues territory, but has a short shelf life I guess..."

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/13/2012. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy reddish copper color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, orange peel, caramel, toast, brown sugar, biscuit, floral, grass, light pine, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity of citrus/tropical hops and balanced dark/bready malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, orange peel, caramel, toast, brown sugar, biscuit, floral, grass, pine, and floral/toasted earthiness. Fair amount of earthy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, orange peel, caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, pine, and floral/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity of juicy hops and dark/bready malt sweetness; with a great malt/hop flavor balance with zero cloying after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately creamy and fairly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent imperial red ale with age. All around great balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hops and dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

12 oz bottle in Oct. 2012 and again late Dec 2013. Pours a clear dark amber brown with a thin beige head. The aroma and flavor have toasted malts, caramel, resiny, earthy, some citrus hops, herbal notes, fresh it was a bit hot, interesting enough and still not doing too bad.
