2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
From a 12oz Bottle. Mostly transparent, ruddy copper colored body with a thin layer of wispy white head. Malty aroma of caramel and cherry gumdrops along with a hint of papaya tropical fruit hops. Toffee and fruitcake. Low citrus hop aroma. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with a soft, somewhat sticky texture. Sweet caramel malt flavors up front on the palate with flavors of bread dough, toffee, and raisin bread. A prominent cherry gumdrop flavor lingers. Moderately hoppy flavor, with notes of grapefruit and pine coming out mid-palate and lingering into the finish. The sweetness of the malt dominates though, overwhelming the hops. I’m left with the overall impression of a light American Barleywine.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle share at Kenny’s 20K, thanks to Ken. As ’Bells 25th Anniversary’, I’ve written down 9.8%. Hazy orange, lightly sparkling, small ring of tan head, dotted lacing. Aroma is toffee, floral - rose in particular. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste follows the nose - toffee with a dry, floral, chalky, papery dimension. Not bad overall.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle thanks to Ken at his 20K tasting. It pours clear deep amber with a thick off-white head. The nose is rich, sweet, earthy, toasted malt, stewed orange, peach, sherbet, fruit cake and some marzipan. The taste is bitter, earthy, leather, toffee, dried fruits, fruit cake and some warming alcohol through the finish. Medium + body and fine carbonation. Not as much depth as I was expecting, but it drinks pretty easy.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Found this beer squirreled away in a place that’s been dark but quite warm for a long time. Aroma is malt and raisins. Flavor’s like nose plus herbs. Great palate. Nice beer. Wonder what it would’ve been like properly cared for.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle from backlog notes 2010. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor were all over the place; carame, ffruity, toasted bread, grapefruit, resiny hops, some alcohol, a mild metallic note, weird, but like many others have said, it seemed to grow on me with time.
