Favorite IPA by far. Extremely hoppy smell, pours well leaving a nice head and a cloudy orange body. Perfect bitterness throughout.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a murky dark golden color with a medium head. Nice hoppy aroma with orange, pine, lemon and an addition of spices. Flavor follows suit.. A very hoppy orange, pine, lemon and floral flaver.. very bitter with just a hint of malt.. This is a hop heads delight.. I love it..

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours pale orange with a nice thick cap of creamy white foam. Wonderful fragrant hop aroma! Orange peel, cinnamon, lemony sourness. Very bright, spicy spring-like aroma. Fairly light on the palate, while still conveying a feeling of substance. Taste is soft maltiness and grapefruit rind, with a puckering, mouthcoating bitterness. A terrific IPA, full of flair and respect for the style. A worthy beer for my 50th rating.

Sorry. I just donít get it. This beer has had much fuss about it, & itís just not that good. 12 oz. brown, longneck bottle.
No freshness date seen anywhere.
Poured out a hazy, piss yellow color, with a sticky white head. Nothing special there. Aromas are pretty much non-existent. Flavors are kind of bland, body is thing & watery. Certainly not worth the hype.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: OCT 24, 2005 Minor rating update from recent bottle that was slightly more enjoyable the second time around. Appearance is mostly translucent, with a tiny floating white head that breaks away at the edges. Smelled sweet, and of wheat, caramel, floral hops and pine resin. Taste of citrus fruits - predominantly of oranges - along with nice bittering agents and an in-your-face floral hop bouquet. Hop bitterness is most accentuated as it curtails around the sides of the tongue in the finish. Creamy and full yet clean all around. A standard for other IPAs to aspire to.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAR 28, 2005 Nose-kicking hops out of the goblet. Light bright orange color is rather attractive. Mouthfeel is more substantial than I expected-nice surprise there. Tastes heavily of grapefruit with hint of golden raisin. Finish isnít as overpowering as it might have been. Above average IPA for me, as I enjoyed this beer that is not one of my favorite styles.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Copper color with a decent head that lasts. Aroma is citrusy with some pine with that typiclal centennial hop aroma. Slight light crystal malt aroma as well. Tastes a little light for a great IPA, but this is still pretty good. Moderately hoppy and bitter with just enough light malts to make it balanced. Pretty good but I was slightly let down- not enough body or hops for me.

Damn fine beer. I am quite glad they have turned this beer into a year round offering. It has become quite a cult classic here in minneapolis in the bars and Liquir stores. This beer screams hops from your nose to your tounge. Gene Simmons would have a hard time waving his tounge around after a few of these. Unfiltered joy as are most of kalamazoo brewings beverages.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle thanks to styles: Itís hazy and light amber colored with a creamy eggshell head that fades to a ring around the glass and really lasts. The aroma here is typical american IPA - the citrus, floral hops - but thereís much more fresh pine scented hops in this one than usual. I can taste lots of hops - grapefruit, pine, flowers, grass, citrus, as well as some sweet malt, sugar, candy, light caramel. Medium amounts of carbonation, light to medium bodied, and slick and oily on the tongue.
