I usually donít get into IPAs like others I know, but this one is an exception. You donít have to get ready for this brew - know what I mean? It pours easy and drinks easy. Not too watery and a fine aftertaste. The beer is crisp and the citrus aspects are tough to ignore. A fine brew.

Bellís Two Hearted is one incredible IPA. The pour is dark brown with some orange color mixed in. The head is considerable, but who cares about looks when these aromas are calling your name? The citrus hops are awesome, and call to your senses in every way. The mouthfeel is so nice and thick for an IPA, that you just have to love it. I really enjoy the malt backbone in this brew. The hops are playing electric guitar, but the malt is laying down a solid beat in the background. A great balance of both for sure. With so much flavor, Bellís Two Hearted has to be on your priority list if you have yet to enjoy it."

Still catching up on the beers I got from the_Epeeist in trade. Thanks! Almost no head, what there is, is white and disappears immediately. Certainly not a West Coast IPA. I almost think there should be a new category of IPAs for the SoCal IPAs, but that might put the purists off a little too much. SD IPAs have a truckload more malt than this, and an obvious overload of hops. There is a crisp hop finish to be sure, and an exceptional balance when it comes to flavor and in the nose. An expertly crafted IPA without doubt. Yet, as a resident of San Diego, I cannot help but wonder if the makers of this beer would have been influenced on the hop-side by what is going on around here. My personal struggle is that my introduction to IPAs came here, in San Diego, where the hop load is in the opinions of most, entirely too much. Iím working on that, and I think this beer is incredible. Balanced. Orange. Crisp. Perfect, no matter where you are in the US.

UPDATED: SEP 17, 2008 Pours orange yellow with medium head, decent lacing. Very nice orange and grapefruit aroma. Sweet flavor, some bitterness comes through in the finish. Smooth mouthfeel. Very good, complex beer.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This is a yellow orange, almost golden colored beer with a small white head. It smelled like fresh juicy oranges with a lot of hops and some floral notes. In the flavor there is some grapefruit and sweetness, along with the big hops and malt, and its such a clean and crisp yet full and well balanced flavor that its hard to say anything bad about this beer.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
On draught, a standard orange yellow with a decent head, maybe a slight haze, but nothing particularly promising looking. On the other hand, incredible promise in that smell. A sweet sticky hop jamboree alongside a big beefy malt bonanza. Citrus, dominated by tangerine and grapefruit, and huge well rounded malt. The mouthfeel is smooth, thereís great stickiness, and perfectly appropriate CO2 levels. The taste is truly exceptional. Everything in the aroma is here in the taste (though perhaps not the tangerine). Thereís big grapefruit and sticky piney hops over a rich and smooth malt backbone. Tonight this beer was particularly fresh and juicy, though I donít think this could ever get lower than a 4.0 from me (or anyone in their right mind). Really something special, I love this beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Nice citrus flavors up front. Pours a deep orange color with big foamy white head. Malty, piney, wood aromas. Slightly sweet with a good balance between the malt and hops.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JAN 14, 2008 An amazing beer. Pours with a long lingering off white head. A hazy orange color with amazing fresh taste, great hops but extremely well balanced, a bit tiny bit of sweetness to match the hops. Lots of citrus tones in this one, which helps my scoring. This is a serious extremely complex beer, and I think might be my all-time favorite. Incredible.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
12oz bottle: bottle conditioned, as far as i can tell from the sedimentation at the bottom-and the flavor to match. lots of malt and lots of hops, and i mean lots of hops. good though, seems like more than 6% in strength, but just a very well brewed beer. Now Iíll have to try Bells other brews while Iím out here..

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Golden color, strong floral aroma. A little malty, with a hoppy finish. I am not always a big fan of IPAs, but really enjoy this beer. A personal favorite.
