India Pale Ale style well suited for Hemingway-esque trips to the Upper Peninsula. American malts and enormous hop additions give this beer a crisp finish and incredible floral hop aroma.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2005 Golden orange with a fluffy off-white head. Leaves nice lacing all the way down the glass with a great head retention. Sweet citrus aroma that closely resembles juicy fruit gum. Hops are very mild, noticable, but not strong. The flavor was a light lemon and orange peel mix. This beer is real smooth with good malt. The flavor finishes with a floral taste.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2005 The Two Hearted poured a hazy golden color. It had a thick fluffy white head that had great retention and lacing.

The aroma was grapefruity, apricoty, piney hops. A little on the subdued side, but nice.

The flavor was grapefruity malts with a hoppy, bitter finish that dominated more as it sat and warmed. Just the right balance of hops, fruitiness and malts. It had a smooth and velvety mouthfeel.

Overall, an excellent IPA. A little more subdued than I expected, but very drinkable.

UPDATED: OCT 24, 2010 12oz. bottle: The beer pours a fairly hazy, golden color, with a little sediment. There was a bit of a white head on it. It has a very nice aroma. The main nose is that of floral hops. Strong, but not overpowering. A hint of sweetness in the aroma also. Upfront taste of hops. Strong, but not overdone. Aftertaste has a bit of orange to it, a hint of both sweetness and tartness. Quite good! Update: Had this on tap today. Still quite good, but had to adjust the numbers a bit!

Mellow pour with ample, cake-like head that sticks to the drinking device. Smells great, tastes better. No ’hints’ of anything. A great IPA with lots of hops. Orange, sweet and strong. This one will be a regular in the cooling unit. My only question is, where can I get it on tap???

Tap at Hopleaf, Chicago Golden/Autumnal color...nice head, fruity, peachy aroma. Orange, fruits, mix in with solid malt backdrop...jazz drones on amongst the loud chatter...very nice balance of malt and bitterness/hops...But don’t misunderstand, this is hoppy...yeast kicks in nicely as well.

Pours hazy gold. Nose is a very strong floral hops. Note: Very strong. This ale has more hops than any I can remember right off. A very floral taste and sharp bite. Incredible if you like that, but not so good to people like my wife who thought it too overwhelming. I like this one because I like hops. Very good.

Orange in color with minimal head. Aroma of citrus and floral hops. Taste, wow, what an intense, fresh hop punch this beer packs. Grapefruit is the other prominent flavor here, and the balance between the two is simply wonderful.

Cloudy gold pour a white head and lots of sediment in the glass. Strong hoppy aroma and intense hoppy taste, smooth going down and very refreshing. Nice Ale.

You can tell they use the hops in this beer. You really have to be ready when you take the first sip of this beer. This is my favorite IPA but I am sure that has something to do with the fact that my heart is with the Upper Peninsula. Make sure you take the time to pour this beer into a glass because it is good looking and really brings a lot to the beer.

Bottle: Nice citrus hop nose. Pours a hazy yellow with lots of sediment. Decent white head with decent retention. Okay lacing. Lots of citrus in the initial taste, then the hops kick in in the finish. Stronger citrus taste than most IPA’s balances nicely with the hoppy finish. I could do withou the slight sour taste in the finish, but that really doesn’t do much to hurt the rating. Great balance equals great beer.
