4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz bottle. Pours yellow clear with big head that fades before you know it. Nice hops and somewhat rich malts (nutty flavor). Finish is simple with little to no aftertaste. Very easy drinkable beer malts does not over power this above avg beer. And sweetness is very low key(which i like)

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep golden color, vey clear fro the bottle. Very nice off-white to white head. Lite malt aroma with stong hop aromas. Earthy to grassy in aromas no to very little yeast aromas. Strong hop bitterness with malt just to balance.

Aroma is orange blossom and treated lumber.Foggy orange-amber color with lots of fine particles. The big foamy head left wet lace in the glass but it all dissipates rather quickly. Fruity orange and peach flavor. Wet palate and superdry chalky bitter finish.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Great IPA. Pours dark golden color and aroma is amazing. Floral, citrus. Sweet malt taste perfectly balanced by substantial hoppy bitterness and spicyness.

This is my favorite IPA! Check it out at Pinocchio’s in Media, PA. They have it in 16 oz cans. Also, Bell Bev in South Philly sometimes has it on sale. If you like IPAs, it will surely make your top five. Cheers!

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This beer is a real pleasant surprise. Don't be fooled by the plain label and absence of fancy graphics. The beer pours with a nice finely laced head. the aroma is citrus, very reminiscent of some of the better Belgian's. It's strongly hopped an has a long fruitey palate. I have had it both in the bottle and on tap. The draught beer has more fruity nose and is in my opinion better than the bottled presentation. A keeper.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2003 Update: 2003-04 versions sampled in Oct, Nov '03 were firm in character but bland and totally lacking in the Two Hearted "brightness." Dec '03 versions sampled so far are much better and are beginning to approach the fantastic 2001-02 versions. The rocky, white lace left after an exhuberent pour is starting to come back. The awesome smell is evident after cracking the bottle, but still not quite as strong in the glass. I have only one question... who is the idiot that keeps this from being a year round brew?
.............................................. Prior Review: I was pleasantly surprised when I opened a bottle of this very plainly marked beer. It has a huge aroma and is somewhat overwhelming at first. Things settle down quickly though as the brew reveals itself to be one of the top IPA's around. It's a unique and well thought out beer. Consider yourself lucky if you actually find a six pack on the shelf. The 2001-02 version definitely had more personality than the 2002-03 version. I hope it's simply a case of Bell's notorious quality contol and not a fundamental "blanding-out" of the recipe.
