India Pale Ale style well suited for Hemingway-esque trips to the Upper Peninsula. American malts and enormous hop additions give this beer a crisp finish and incredible floral hop aroma.

Hazy golden, nice creamy head. Aroma is floral, some citrus and hops. Flavor brings hops and flowers. Elder comes bacj there as well. Quite an ok ale.

A: It pours a hazy burnt orange color with a small white head. Some sticky looking lacing as I drink this one. S: The aroma really blew me away. Loads of citrus hop aroma, sweet tropical fruits, and not much malt--very nice. T: The taste is very similar to the aroma. A great grapefruit and orange flavor, along with sweet pineapple. The finish is nice and piney, giving a bitterness to balance out the fruit. M: The beer is medium bodied and has moderate carbonation. D: I can see why people go nuts over this beer. Such a solid IPA, much more similar to the California IPAs than most other Midwest and East Coast offerings.

UPDATED: NOV 11, 2012 Bottle at Brauhaus Schmitz, Philly - 21/05/12. Clear golden orange with a decent white head and plenty of lacing. Sweet malt nose not the hop burst I was expecting although there are piney hop notes at the end. As per nose caramel malt at the fore, piney hops at the rear. Medium bodied and carbonation, smooth dry finish. Original rate 7 - 4 - 8 - 5 - 16 = 4.0. -------&# 03/11/12 at Kasey’s Tavern, Chicago on tap. Clear mid amber with a good off white head. Decent lacing follows. Nose comprises sweet malts, pine, hops, bitter tropical fruits and some mineral tones. Tastes of bitter tropical fruits, pine, hops, minerals. Medium bodied woth fine carbonation leading to a bitter finish, great IPA. Came out as the same score as the original review with taste +1 and palate -1.

12/11/11/12/11/11

Bottle from D&J Liquor in St. Louis, MO. Hazy amber color with a vigorous beige head. Nice aroma of resin and floral hop. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is very hoppy, piney with a hint of grapefruit. Finishes smooth and tasty. There’s enough malt to give the illusion of balance. Why can’t we get this in California?

Bottle. Dark amber color with medium rocky head. Crisp aroma of hops and malt. Good complex flavor with strong finish. Another very good Bells brew.
