3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Orange, lightly copper tinted beer with a small white rim. Orange flavour, hops, but not exactly C-hops, but quite aromatic ones all the same. Dry taste, with classical cookie and hopcake, sultanas, keeping long in the flowery taste. Very carbonated for a USA beer, long lasting, bitterish flavours. Very restrained, and therefore excellent drinking ale.

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2013 Hop phantoms had invaded my tongue and declared it a ghost palate...I was desperately À la Recherche du Houblon Perdu...Remembrances of a real IPA were slowly drifting away...And my tastebuds, naively still open, were about to lose faith...Until (perchance!) a horde of Michigan soldier bees commenced the emergency pollenization of my forlorn tongue...Immediatly, hop vines started to thrive, citrus fruit started to multiply and firs grew bigger and firmer...A smell of lush jungle vegetation and toasted cereals started to emanate from my still reeling palate...Two Hearted Ale is always a quenching reawakening...

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Pours deep straw colored. 5 for appearance, definitely. Excellent head and lacing. Super hoppy, citrusy, floral, fruity aroma. 10 for aroma. Tastes very hoppy, with nice malt base. Finishes very smooth, with hints of hops, malt, citrus, and perfumy florals, with some Belgian white alishness and sweet candi sugar and fine chardonnay qualities. Super complex. Great beer. Bells is in my top 10 brewers of all time. My second 5.0 rating. Perhaps I put too much emphasis on complexity, but I cannot deduct any points on this one. Awesome!!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: FEB 22, 2006 Feb 2006 Bottle. Hazy golden orange body, with a small creamy white head. Fairly hoppy aroma with a touch of resiny citrus. Flavour is quite bitter, but is lacking in hops flavour and character, but some pleasant grapefruit. Medium palate. I would love to try this on tap to see what it is like very fresh. 7/3+/7-8/3+/16<P>
June 2004 Bottle. Hazy golden amber with a very nice fluffy white head. Citrusy hops in the aroma. Bitterness in the flavour is a bit stronger than indicated in the aroma. Lots of resiny humulin lingering in the aftertaste. Very nice but a bit unbalanced with the hops dominating over the malt which is not an altogether bad thing depending what you are in the mood for. Thanks very much for the bottle NorthYorkSammy. 7/4/8/3/17 3.9

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2004 Dark golden color with a rich lacey white head. Huge hoppy bouquet with floral attributes. Very well balanced malty body and tart bitterness. The finish is dry and crisp, and the higher abv is undectable. I have yet to have a bad Bells beer.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A Mes rate: 355ml bottle at Steve’s Xmas booze up.
Utterly gorgeous amber gold colour with a stunning white head. Really close to a 5. Outfunkingstanding aroma. I really could sniff at this all day. So so nosable. Incredible hoppage. Grassy, floral, piney, spruce and everything else. A masterclass of an American hop aroma. Words can not do it justice. More show stopping hops in the flavour. Resinous and maybe a little caramel. Light sweetness. Outstanding bitter finish with amazing length. Bloody marvelous beer!

UPDATED: OCT 24, 2003 Rerate 10/21/03: After getting a sixer of Two Hearted this year, I have to bump the score up. This really is a top of the line IPA. 09/29/02 (3.8):There's hops it that there beer! This was a 'guest tap' at Barley's brewpub here in Columbus, and although I usually find it wrong to try beers outside of the brewpub where I am drinking, I'm glad I made an exception here. Cloudy orange color with a thin head. Strong hoppy, floral aroma. Hops dominate the flavor as well, bordering on the extreme. This beer will definitely keep your attention. Take a whiff of one of these during a boring meeting and you'll wake right up. You'll probably get fired but you'll be awake.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Amber-orange pour with a creamy-white head that receded rather quickly. Formed a light spotty layer on top, and nice intricate lacing as it went down. Dense floral, piney, and citrusy aromas hit the nose, and were very pleasant. At first taste, hops dance across the palate.. this had a light and lively mouthfeel. Solid malt backbone held up the citrus and grassy flavors well. Refreshing citrus finish. This is a great IPA!

Bottle thanks to drowland. Pours copper amber with white head. Nose is floral hops and tons of citrus. Taste is hops, citrus and caramel malt balance. Nice crisp dryish finish. Good IPA.
