India Pale Ale style well suited for Hemingway-esque trips to the Upper Peninsula. American malts and enormous hop additions give this beer a crisp finish and incredible floral hop aroma.

Poured orange/off yellow with a nice white head from 12 oz bottle. Aroma thick of flowery and resiny hops. Full palate of flower, resin, and pine with a nice caramel sweetness to balance it with a great lasting bitter finish. Measure this up to the best of IPAs, awesome beer and so glad it’s always around!

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2006 Feb 2006 Bottle. Hazy golden orange body, with a small creamy white head. Fairly hoppy aroma with a touch of resiny citrus. Flavour is quite bitter, but is lacking in hops flavour and character, but some pleasant grapefruit. Medium palate. I would love to try this on tap to see what it is like very fresh. 7/3+/7-8/3+/16<P> June 2004 Bottle. Hazy golden amber with a very nice fluffy white head. Citrusy hops in the aroma. Bitterness in the flavour is a bit stronger than indicated in the aroma. Lots of resiny humulin lingering in the aftertaste. Very nice but a bit unbalanced with the hops dominating over the malt which is not an altogether bad thing depending what you are in the mood for. Thanks very much for the bottle NorthYorkSammy. 7/4/8/3/17 3.9

UPDATED: DEC 17, 2014 Clear light orange with a tall soapy white head. Crisp and sharp hop aroma of peaches, scotch and musty pine. Very crisp and light while maintaining an even hop bitterness. Has a nice sweet wood and peach flavor.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2008 Re-rate 10/19/08:Bottle. Batch 8677. Thanks a lot for this bottle archmik! Clear, maybe very slightly hazy, deep golden color. Aroma has quite a bit of floral hops with some citrus, but also a nice malty tone with caramel and some cookie notes. A sweetish flavor at first with some malt, continues hoppy and bitter with some grapefruit and with caramel lingering in the background. Medium-bodied with a rounded mouthfeel. A very good balanced IPA. 7/4/8/4/15=3.8

Bottle. Hazy orange with a medium white head. Flowery, citrusy, hoppy nose. Flavor starts with sweetish malts, then comes some nice citric hoppiness. A bitter finish with some grapefruit notes. Medium-bodied with a nice mouthfeel. Very good stuff! 8/3/8//16=3.9

Pours deep straw colored. 5 for appearance, definitely. Excellent head and lacing. Super hoppy, citrusy, floral, fruity aroma. 10 for aroma. Tastes very hoppy, with nice malt base. Finishes very smooth, with hints of hops, malt, citrus, and perfumy florals, with some Belgian white alishness and sweet candi sugar and fine chardonnay qualities. Super complex. Great beer. Bells is in my top 10 brewers of all time. My second 5.0 rating. Perhaps I put too much emphasis on complexity, but I cannot deduct any points on this one. Awesome!!

Orange, lightly copper tinted beer with a small white rim. Orange flavour, hops, but not exactly C-hops, but quite aromatic ones all the same. Dry taste, with classical cookie and hopcake, sultanas, keeping long in the flowery taste. Very carbonated for a USA beer, long lasting, bitterish flavours. Very restrained, and therefore excellent drinking ale.

On tap/bottle?I think it was on tap? From Jose Pistolas, Philadelphia 17-11-08 Pours light amber with a really stunning fresh hoppy nose and a great terrapin like snappy bite to it, but there are enough malts to carry this through to make it enormously tasty. There is a nice drying appleyness on the roof of the mouth, its good stuff. A7 A4 F7 P4 OV15

UPDATED: JAN 25, 2011 Firkin at Ashley’s. Poured a cloudy amber gold with an off-white head. Aroma was full of hops bring out a pleasant pine note, while there is an undertone of fruit, a bit of apple perhaps. The flavor was deliciously balance with pine notes as well the slightest sweetness under the bitterness.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2013 TAP: at Bulldog Lowertown (St. Paul, MN) on 1.25.09. Gold, translucent pour, light head. Slightly lighter in color than Bells HopSlam. Floral hop aroma that was mild. Taste was sweet, very well-balanced hop that comes on late, and pine. A little less edgy than HopSlam.
