India Pale Ale style well suited for Hemingway-esque trips to the Upper Peninsula. American malts and enormous hop additions give this beer a crisp finish and incredible floral hop aroma.

UPDATED: MAY 29, 2012 Great brew. Aroma is heavy hops with apple and a dash of oak. Pours a dark yellow with a frothy off-white head with excellent lacing. Taste is beautifully IPA with a nice bitter finish over its long duration. Light to medium body, creamy mouthfeel with something just south of lively carbonation. A nice warming finish. Leaves me feeling exceptionally refreshed, I could drink a lot of this stuff!
re-rate courtesy of ucusty: Pours with a hazy yellow body with an off-white head that leaves strong lacing. Aroma of grapefruity hops, toffee, some apple, lemon hops and a bit of barnyard (odd). Taste is a very malty and balanced IPA. Liveley carbonation. Ar:8 Ap:8 F:8 M:4 O:18 (odd that the re-rate is the same as the original).

Bottle dated 4/25/2012. Consumed 1 month later. Pours with a crystal clear golden hued body with a big frothy white head that leaves good lacing. Aromas are floral, citrusy, grapefruit, tangerine, light pine. Medium iced tea. Light bready, caramel malt structure. Pretty clean ester wise. Flavors are of citrus, pine, grapefruit, corn nuts. A touch too sweet for my tastes, but still pretty good. Medium bitterness overall that doesnít linger. Hops are still the star, but there is some balance. Medium bodied, slightly fuller carbonation than expected. Pretty solid.

On tap/bottle?I think it was on tap? From Jose Pistolas, Philadelphia 17-11-08 Pours light amber with a really stunning fresh hoppy nose and a great terrapin like snappy bite to it, but there are enough malts to carry this through to make it enormously tasty. There is a nice drying appleyness on the roof of the mouth, its good stuff. A7 A4 F7 P4 OV15

Tap at Abraxas Lounge, Miami. It pours golden yellow, with a 1cm white head. The nose is floral, fresh pine and grapefruit. The taste is lemon, lime, grapefruit, pine, resin, floral, some underlying sweetness and grass, with a long bitter-dry finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Crisp and easy drinking. I wasnít blown away by this, but still itís a solid, enjoyable IPA.

Clear golden colour with a small white head. Exotic fruits, floral and sweet hops, moderate bitterness and sweetish malt in the stunningly delicious aroma. The flavour is smooth, extremely smooth. Exotic fruity and sweet with balancing maltiness. Perfectly balanced. Smooth and soft carbonation. This is the American IPA at itís best. Incredible. I wanna travel to Kalamazoo...

Draught at the Bellís Eccentric Cafť, Kalamazoo, MI.
Hazy amber colour with a small white head. Extremely fruity aroma with exotic fruits and mild bitterness. Very balanced. Fruity and piney hops, moderate bitterness and maltiness in an absolutely tasty flavour. This was the reason I travelled to Kalamazoo...

Keg, On Tap, Whole Foods, Columbus Circle, 19/02/14. Hazed orange with a creamy white top. Muted frozen peach and flowers aroma. Booze and honey-sodden chill; peach, flowers, orange squash, anise and almond with the alcohol showing. Better as it warms with lavender and mint hints. A bit heady and lacking aromatics. OK, but inexplicably highly rated on this evidence.

12 oz. bottle, split with Matts_Property, pours hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of potent grapefruit, piney hops and citrus, balanced by caramel malt. Flavour is heavy on the piney hops, grapefruit and citrus, with just enough caramel malt. Most wonderful IPA.

Amber-orange pour with a creamy-white head that receded rather quickly. Formed a light spotty layer on top, and nice intricate lacing as it went down. Dense floral, piney, and citrusy aromas hit the nose, and were very pleasant. At first taste, hops dance across the palate.. this had a light and lively mouthfeel. Solid malt backbone held up the citrus and grassy flavors well. Refreshing citrus finish. This is a great IPA!

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2004 Dark golden color with a rich lacey white head. Huge hoppy bouquet with floral attributes. Very well balanced malty body and tart bitterness. The finish is dry and crisp, and the higher abv is undectable. I have yet to have a bad Bells beer.

A Mes rate: 355ml bottle at Steveís Xmas booze up.
Utterly gorgeous amber gold colour with a stunning white head. Really close to a 5. Outfunkingstanding aroma. I really could sniff at this all day. So so nosable. Incredible hoppage. Grassy, floral, piney, spruce and everything else. A masterclass of an American hop aroma. Words can not do it justice. More show stopping hops in the flavour. Resinous and maybe a little caramel. Light sweetness. Outstanding bitter finish with amazing length. Bloody marvelous beer!
