India Pale Ale style well suited for Hemingway-esque trips to the Upper Peninsula. American malts and enormous hop additions give this beer a crisp finish and incredible floral hop aroma.

{thoughts} Classic, classy. Amazingly superior to so many new generation IPAs and all done so effortlessly.

{elements} Hazy amber hue; rocky, white froth. Big, juicy hop nose of grapefruit and fruit loops; subtle biscuit malts; honey and floral undertones. Gentle sweetness upfront gives way to a pointed but clean bitterness with a tingling aftereffect; tastes of honeyed biscuits with a giant punch of grapefruit. Silky texture, soft carbonation, medium bodied. 12 oz bottle, batch 10011.

30.05.2016, 12 oz can @ home:
Big creamy longlasting head. Aroma is strange fruity, old lawn, rotten leafs, minerals, hay, hops, old moss, bloodlike minerals, very overripe fruits, bark, pine needles, light malts, tiny hints of sulfur. Taste is slightly dry grassy, weeds, leafs, lawn, hops, moss, minerals, light malts, bark, flowers, pine needles, paper. Medium bitterness, slightly dry grassy mouthfeel. Fair enough.

On tap in the Ginger Man NYC. Amber colour, clear, thin foam. I’d say a classic style of IPA, some malt sweetness and lots of citrus pint bitterness. I had this along with several other IPAs that week in the US and have to say it didn’t stand out other than being a well made version of the style.

0,33l bottle at Harry’s, Jyväskylä. Pours copper colour with a small head. Piny, caramelly and fruity aroma. Medium bitterness and body. Well balanced IPA.

Pours amber with small head. Aroma is light, some fruits, oily notes, roses, sweet flowers. Taste is light, some pine, citrus, fruits, hops, grapefruit. ABV well hidden. Quite light and therefore little bit disappointing, nothing special to me. PKGD 03/01/2016.

Can from Mikkeller & Friends bottle shop, Copenhagen. Really looking forward to this legendary IPA, which hasn’t been available in Norway yet. However, my previous experiences with American IPAs imported to Europe has been less than impressive, probably due to transportation and storage issues. So this is exciting. :-) Pours a hazy deep orange body with a medium off-white head. Nose is pine, herbs, blood oranges, citrus zest, rose water and hints of bready malts, grapefruit and light syrup. Taste is pine, citrus peel, grapefruit, herbs and hints of caramel, floral notes and resin. Medium body, medium to high carbonation. My verdict: lovely aroma, but the taste, however balanced, is not as amazing as I’d hoped for. Still, a super-solid and well brewed classic-tasting American IPA.

Can. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is grapefruit, piney, mango and toasted malts. Taste is quite grapefruity and more mango, quite piney, and a nice residual sweetness. Bitter finish with a toasty malt body. An extremely well-balanced IPA. Medium to high carbonation. Good!

Delicious IPA. Really well balanced, incredibly drinkable. Perfect restraint in the bitterness... no hop bomb here, just a really good beer.

Bottle. Pale amber colour. Orange, pineapple, tangerines, lemon, hints of berries in the aroma. Refreshing and juicy. Oranges and tangerines all the way in the taste. Hints of other fruits. Bitterness in the end. Nice, silky palate. Juicy, rather light bodied, medium carbonated, really drinkable beer.
