On tap at Bell’s Eccentric Cafe.
A deep, clear amber with an excellent head and lacing.
Smells and tastes like a light, wheaty barleywine.
O: Like no other beer I’ve ever had. Much enjoyed even though I don’t much like Oberon.

3/4 pour to a shaker at Maduro Cigar Bar in Madison, WI., for Bell’s GToM pre-party. Showed a fairly clear, deep golden color, with a very light amount of off white head, and negligible lacing. Sweet, with tanniny barrel hints, touch of vanilla, and light wheat. Medium bodied, with low carbonation. Light bourbon and it’s alcohol presence was also noticed. Tasty, but a barrel-aged summer sessionable? Kind of an evil twin thing. Thanks, PJ. Always a great time!

Tap at Maduro pre-GTMW 2013. Hazy orange-tan. Thin glass rimming head. Probably the mildest bourbon barrel beer I’ve ever had. Smooth caramel on top of mellow wheat. Pretty nice beer. Smooth and easy.

Not the same abv that is listed here. Smells like a sweaty cider. Flavor is extremely harsh.

Draft at brewery. The pour is a bright orange. The aroma is citrus with the smallest hint of bourbon. The aging really changes the profile of the beer from oberon. Nice drinking light bourbon beer.

Oak and orange. Although I like Oberon well enough and really like barrel-aged beers, barrel-aged Oberon wasn’t something I would have guessed would be tasty. However, I was surprised by how much I liked it. The oak-y vanilla-y flavor was very strong.

Sampled at MBG 2013 Summer Festival. Nice aroma, very oaky, light bourbon, vanilla, and citrus fruit. Taste is a bit odd but not bad. Lots of oak and vanilla definitely overpower the base beer. Light bourbon, light citrus fruit. Better than oberon but it would definitely be hard to finish a pint of this.
