3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
6th April 2014
Hazy gold beer, good fluffy white head. Palate is airy and crisp. Airy creamy malt, faint wheaty notes, slightly sweet. Light citric note on the backend. Finishes soft and airy with a little lactose. All right, pretty drinkable.

I usually respect a good barleywine, ive never been a fan of wheatwines whoigh really.... that being said, this is a fairly complex very drinkable beer reminiscent of a Belgian beer. Very very good...

Absolutely love the way this beer smells. I could drink it through my nose. Wish I could because it would probably taste better that way than using my tongue. Smells better than it tastes. Not so smooth on the palate.

Ok. Candy and wheat. Pour is beautiful with a thick white head. Aroma is kinda like a candy and the aftertaste is reminiscent of sugar too.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at Dan’s on February 14. The pour is a foggy light gold with a solid white head that dissipates rather slowly, leaving a beautiful blanket of lace. The aroma has some immediate funk to it. It’s got a nice sour-ish note on the immediate front before a malty dominance takes over. The funk carries through the body, and lets the sourness take back over on the back end. The taste is out there. It’s boozy, stale, funky, and by some stroke of ridiculousness, it is sweet AND sour at the same time. The mouth feel is quite thin, watery, and the aftertaste is just a burn. I’m not a fan.

On tap at Blackthorn Pub, Holly,MI...looks and smells like a typical wheat beer, however, this captures all that is good about wheat and amplifies it and moves it to a higher level. Great body and mouthfeel...wheat has never tasted so good.

Bottle from Philly Steak. expiration date was 9/18/13, but I don’t think this was a problem as it wasn’t in the fridge. Nice notes of wheat, spice, citrus and some bread. Not bad.

Nice looking beer but not much of an aroma. Taste is malty up front... then not much after that. Mouth feel is medium.

12 oz bottle (9/18/13), thanks to Jeff. Pours hazy gold with huge rocky white head. Dissipates reasonably quickly. Aroma: coriander, lemongrass -- this is classified as a barley wine? Smells like a big, sweet wit to me. Taste: moderately sweet; wheat, coriander, lemon, bubblegum; short medium bitter finish. Some synthetic plastic thing going on in the aftertaste. Medium to full body, slick, creamy texture. Some alcohol, lively carbonation. Overall: Basically a boozy wheat beer (surprising how an 8% beer called "wheat love" would turn out like that, eh?). Pretty unique, but more of a novelty than a beer I’d like to drink regularly. Hard to finish the bottle, actually.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
@ Party Town / Florence KY Cloudy light amber with a huge frothy head (at least 4") that slowly settles to 1", lace hanging on an inch above the drink. Taste is Belgian Strong Ale that I suppose could qualify as a Barley Wine. It begins with a strong wheat and malt that invites spice and toffee (maybe even a little bubble gum) in the palate, adding a light balanced bitter in the finish. A remarkable brew, not heavy in the stomach, and fully satisfying. Highly recommended.
