detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Jan 13, 2007 Pours a deep peach color, only slightly hazy, and topped with a good two inches of soft and fluffy cream colored foam. Very good head retention and good foamy lacing. Mild aroma of wheat, honey, and a bit of alcohol.
Soft beer, with honey malt, dry wheat, and a little hop bitterness in the finish. I can’t exactly call it a citrus hop, but that’s about as close as I can describe it. Nice dry wheat and hop bitterness in the finish, with a touch of mead, yeast, and dry wheat in the aftertaste. Medium to full body, soft but ample carbonation. Smooth enough.
GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Jan 2, 2007 12 oz bottle. Poured a clear orange color with a lasting white head that left some lace. Enticing, mysterious aroma. Definitely fruity. Citrusy like a wit, but there are also strawberry notes at times with whiffs of malty caramel, apple, and a hint of alcohol. Soft mouth feel with mingled acidity and sweetness. Tatses like a wit at times, but there is definitely more alcohol than your average wit. At times its a bit like apple liqueur with some clove. Wow. Good. bgburdman9 (822), Columbus, Ohio, USA Dec 29, 2006 Poured a slightly cloudy color with an average white head. Aroma was a little banana with some clove maybe and seemed a little malty. Didnt seem like it was all wheat. Flavor was definitely stronger than a hefeweizen and i liked this a lot better than all other wheat beers i have had. I enjoyed this one alot. Prostman (1077), Pennsylvania, USA Dec 16, 2006 This was a good beer...I don’t think I could have more than 2 or 3 of these though without moving on to something different. Marsiblursi (1631), Göteborg, Sweden Dec 14, 2006 (Bottle) Pours clear amber. Fruity aroma with red apples, bananas and spices. Honey sweet. Spicy flavour with red apples and bananas. A tiny bit sour and slightly bitter. Wheat-ish, medium body. Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Dec 12, 2006 Good sized head of very cool looking caviar like bubbles. Excellent carbonation keeps the foam on top for a while. Sweet caramel aroma with a hint of wheat and spices. Maybe a little orange in there also. Almost like a belgian triple aroma. Medium orangish brown in color. Sweet malty flavor with anoticable alcohol presence. More caramel and spices. Kind of a spiced orange again. Nice heat in the gullet. Finishes sweet and malty. Not much a of a wheat beer. Ah, but now I see that it is classified as a barleywine. And a damn fine one too. A good barleywine for those who don’t like the overly hoppy and sweet ones. Another great brew from Bells. Thanks to whoever gave this to me as I can’t remember who it was. adrian910ss (1395), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 7, 2006 12 oz bottle. Pours a cloudy orange yellow color with a medium white head. Laces nicely. Aroma of banana, cloves, nutmeg and barley malt. Spicy taste with hints of banana, nutmeg.cloves and fresh yeast. Barleywine ? More along the lines of an abbey trippel for my taste buds. Very good. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 7, 2006 Hazy toasted-straw body with some chunky floaties and a foamy, ample white head. Aroma has prominent esters, clove and banana notes and rich, nutty whole wheat qualities. Fragrant yeast characters dominate the flavor. Also tastes of wheaty and toasty malts, sweet honey, herbs and spices. Moderately phenolic medicinal overtones with firm bitterness and some notable alcoholic warmth. Nice, full wheat wine.
