apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA Feb 14, 2006 Pretty dark orange, nice head, somewhat cloudy. Citrus and coriander aroma, very wheaty (of course) and yeasty. Why is this called a barley wine? Somewaht sweet, full mouthfeel, a really great "wheat beer". A nice handful of hops in the finish makes this a unique and very tasty brew. notalush (2627), Denver, Colorado, USA Feb 14, 2006 Cloudy bright orange in color, with substantial white lace - the aroma is like a witbier on steroids - huge spiciness (coriander, lemon rind), lots of wheat (duh), toasted grain and a honey and marmalade smell - lots of carbonation in the mouth, but it remains soft on the palate - very much like a belgian ale - strong earthiness, orange, peach, lemon rind - some hoppiness on the back end - a mild honey sweetness throughout - a nice experiment - thanks to OhioDad for this. blkitson (132), Westerville, Ohio, USA Feb 14, 2006 Great color. Absolutely no after taste. Would difintely buy this again. Very smooth TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA Feb 12, 2006 For the love of wheat. This beer is a "wheat wine" by style, and it is an excellent example. The fifth, and final beer in the Bell’s Wheat . Wheat Love pours to a beautiful, hazy, deep golden, to burnt orange color, with a thick and creamy, white head, and a moderate, to soft carbonation. The nose on this beer is very inviting, with aromas of pale and wheat malts, paired with some estery fruit. The palate is slick and oily, on the tongue, with good pale and wheat malt flavors, with hints of estery banana, and pear. Wheat Love finishes with more good pale and wheat malt flavor up front, then ends with a peppery, soothing, mild alcohol burn that lingers. An excellent wheat wine, and an impressive beer, to end the Wheat Project with. Really a great thing Bell’s did here. I really enjoyed trying these beers, and Wheat Love Ale was and is a great beer. Goblincat (356), Westland, Michigan, USA Feb 12, 2006 Pours cloudy orange, with a white head. Wheat and malt nose, but not much more I can find. Extremely fine carbonation, very smooth... Clove and wheat flavors. A really neat wheat. BrideOfFrankenkitty (44), Illinois, USA Feb 12, 2006 Done as a horizontal with the other 4 Bells Wheat series. This poured a cludy amber and smelled sour with hints of grain. It had a smooth mouthfeel and was fruity with a vinegar aftertaste. Tmoney99 (4652), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Feb 12, 2006 Bottle. Pours a hazy deep amber with a solid off-white head that is mostly lasting and good lacing. Heavy wheat banana and spice aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Full wheat and fruit flavor with a smooth complex finsh. Very good brew. KAggie97 (2406), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Feb 12, 2006 Bottle from Ohio Dad Thanks! <br Pours a rich gold with ample head and lace. Aroma is dehydrated banana with a bit of clove. Taste is more of the same but thicker and more fruity (peachy?) than before. Thick, coating mouthfeel. A great brew.
