3/06/2008: Bell’s Wheat Two (2) Ale pours a slightly hazy (some very fine sediment is floating in it) golden color. There is a flury of carbonation and a lasting medium-sized off-white head. The aroma reminds me of a Belgian Blonde Ale as it constains some lightly sweet maltiness, hints of spice, and some fresh fruitiness including peach(?), orange, and banana. This beer also tastes much like a good Belgian Blonde Ale. The malt has a slight graininess to it and the wheat has developed a nice fruity quality. There is also a nice subtle spiciness (difficult to pinpoint the exact spices) that lasts through the dry finish and combines with a slight floral and herbal hop bitterness to create a nice lasting flavor. I really like the sweet and complex fruit in the aroma and flavor. Some fusels and faint butterscotch (or something similar) become more noticeable as the beer warms. The mouthfeel of this beer is medium-light and crisp. Overall this is a refreshing beer. The profile of the Belgian Wit yeast definitely comes through in the aroma, flavor, and appearance of this beer. This was the only one of the Wheat Project beers that I did not have when they were first released because I could not find it, but I wish I had. I am really enjoying it now and bet is was also pretty good when it was originally released. I think this beer could continue to hold up for another year or two or more.
12 fl. oz. bottle from Party Town in Florence, Kentucky. Rating #184 for this beer...

GaltScat (196), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Feb 6, 2008 Pours the part with a hazed yellow hue topped by a nice sized frothy head and good lace. The aroma has all those neat weisen esters of banana, clove, lemon, and bubblegum yeast. Also detected a touch of aromatic hops and even a bit of honey. The taste has an initial wheat smoothness supporting fleshy fruit and pale malts. A very small bit of clove and pepper towards the middle. A nice light acidic lemony twangy on the finish.
